I had nothing to do with JaF0 becoming a mod. Laurel didn’t consult me and I didn’t put in a good word. I have come to their defense in threads because people are being fucking ridiculous. I get that JaF0 isn’t a ray of sunshine, but they stepped in to moderate in a board that was absent an active mod for months. In that time, they were making attempts to draw attention to things (like very fucking questionable photos being shared of very young looking girls, for instance). JaF0 may not be Susie sunshine when talking with folks, but not a single mod decision has been a mistake, and nor have they been made in a vacuum. They have reached out to experienced mods more than any other mod I’ve ever witnessed and they’ve been in regular contact with Laurel, as well. And yes, I do like them (using they/them as I do not know or assume).

It’s fascinating to watch people react to someone enforcing rules that exist to make sure photos aren’t being shared without consent, that only photos of adults are being shared, that the site owners’ desire to not have posts link to other sites, that the site isn’t at risk due to copyright violations. Sweet Jesus the fucking entitlement.

I’ve no dog in the fight. Isn’t part of being a mod. Is knowing how to talk to people. Cause to be honest a mod is just a costumer service rep.

I'll totally admit to lurking Fetish now more than I ever did. 🍿 It is fascinating, indeed. I am curious how this plays. not only if there is a complete overhaul of the section, but does his posting style change too. Like does he also stop posting others internet pics? Does he ease up on members who do post their own pictures? Do we eventually see a softer side? Is there an image to word ratio suitable that doesn't get them scolded for not saying enough? Hell, I haven't figured out the image to word ratio needed to keep an ampic thread in ampics and not bumped to darkroom lounge for the reverse issue, too many words. Probably pushing the boundaries on this one here. 🤣 I've said it before, I don't envy your positions, not at all. In the end, their site, their rules, they pick who best representants their views, even if we don't get it, we can accept it or walk. I actually stay fully out of fetish, so now dog as well except for now lurking as drama llama gets hungry.

Feel free to voice your concerns to the powers that be. Their site, their decisions. Our posting history is very clear. We are also under zero obligation to make friends here. We are not prohibited from getting into or even counseled to avoid altercations. It’s a volunteer role that can take a significant amount of time.

Funny thing to me, I’ve heard from one person who is really happy about sketchy content being removed from F&S. Others are just okay with the mountain of reported content that never had action taken? That’s gross. Disturbing. No one else has stepped up.

I’ll reiterate that I think JaF0 is making appropriate decisions on content to remove. It’s highly noticeable as no one has been taking action for a long time. It’s also noticeable because JaF0 is drawing attention to it and announcing changes. Most mods make the changes with zero communication. I tend to err on the side of overly communicative, positive, and sweet (also a service sub by nature, soo…).

I appreciate that. And I do understand the concerns about communication style, but I can assure you all that JaF0 is seeking guidance and consensus from mods in a way that others have not. Most of us just operate in isolation. And by most, I mean all of us, for as long as I’ve been a mod. Behind the scenes, it has actually been really refreshing to see more communication between the mods. I also know the change has been jarring. But damn a mod was so needed over there. They are doing a good job at the actual mod decision making and I’m glad they are in the role.

I think we all have different motivations. One of my biggest motivators is helping members feel safe here. It definitely influences the way I communicate with folks. Others are really just focused on removing the content Laurel wishes us to remove. And honestly, that’s literally all that is asked of us.

Seems mods feel it’s ok to talk to people however the mod wants.
I’m with the thinking of someone is decent with me. I’ll be decent with them. I will speak my mind when needed.

I lurk fetish regularly. I have even reported obvious underage content and stolen pics. I appreciate the response to both. Both cases led to legitimate whining about how the offenses were dealt with. (Deleted threads). Which I suppose is the basic point: I wouldn't be a mod for all the government sanctioned weed in Ontario.

Now, I think I need to get back to perving.
