Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

Okay Chaos peeps... especially my friends across the pond who are just waking up... I have been messing about in the kitchen and now have about 2 cup of grated ginger and peaches bits that I do not want to go to waste. I'm thinking of making a ginger simple syrup kind of thing? Any suggestions?
*and now I'm off to google land*
I'll check back in a bit.
Mwah!

I was recently banished from the Chaos kitchen. Sorry I can’t be of any help (not that I would be anyway.)

I can still taste test though, right? 😁

That looks delicious, but I'm not up for baking at this hour.... (almost 1am here)
And I've already salvaged enough of the larger peach pieces that have been macerating in ginger and sugar for 36 hours to bake a peach pie in a week or so (peaches already in the freezer.)
Also... the ginger was grated with skin on for the original use and I'm just worried the bits of ginger skin might be gritty in a baked pudding or cake

As soon as someone says syrup, that’s where my mind goes 😂😂
Syrup sponge, it reminds me of being a wee girl and getting it at my Grandmas house 🥰

Would a drill work? Might get messy depending on the speed, but hey, it’s 1am, and we gotta improvise. 😁
As Stix suggested, might have been a protective shut down... I guess I'm old enough to have had a lot of blenders without that feature and have burned thru a few... a hazard especially since I have used blenders for paper making...which is notoriously hard on blenders. I prolly burnt thru 6 blenders just doing that when I was in art school... good times.

Anyway- success!!!
I got it fully blended (only needed a full minute), and then strained it through super fine cheese cloth to obtain a quart of liquid gold - ginger peach syrup sweetened with a bit of dark local honey as the recipe above directs.

I think it'll make a really delicious flavored simple syrup... I plan to test it out tomorrow night.
I'm out of honey so now that's on my list for tomorrow too.

Surely the only Lit-appropriate British dessert to suggest has to be spotted dick?
I love spotted dick! Delicious dessert. The living history museum where I volunteer has a 1850 period kitchen and the cooks make delicious old fashioned British puddings on the regular.

This last week they made a marzipan hedgehog.... adorable right???

You’ve twisted my arm. I will report back.

I once had a long discussion with @alwaysaway on how to properly fuck a watermelon. I said you drill a hole in it (the correct way). She suggested you cut it in half and just kinda smash your dick around inside the fruit like it’s some kind of soup ladle in a pot of chili.

She obviously has never had a dick.

Ah, I remember that convo like it was yesterday. You might not make friends with salad, but you certainly can with some light watermelon fornication. 🍉
