The border, investigations and legislation

So we now have a new speaker of the house. So far the rumblings from McCarty and the Republicans have been threats of investigation of the administration from the president down. Okay, I get that. Ostensibly because of all the nefarious things done by this administration, in reality retribution for daring to impeach Trump. But again, okay, let er' rip and let the chips fall where they may. One of those threatened investigations and impeachments is for the Director of Homeland Security because of the border concerns. For the third time, okay, I'm good with that, even though I believe it will go nowhere and is a waste of time. What I want to know is this: The Republicans have the House. Are they going to work on and pass legislation directed at the immigration crisis? And before someone chimes in with "the Dems have the Senate. it's a waste because it won't go anywhere" that didn't stop them from submitting copious amounts of bills to do away with the Affordable Care Act when they were in the minority that they knew wasn't going anywhere. Are they going to get down to doing that part of their job now or not?

Stay tuned...

They won't pass legislation.

They will have investigations into everything that will produce nothing of substance.

The Speaker won't last to next year.

Just as in the Benghazi investigations, Biden administration people and other Democrats should respond to all subpoenas, noting that Republicans didn't (by name) and answer all questions truthfully (if there is corruption or criminality there, sure, let it come out), pointing out how many Republicans invoked the Fifth--who and how often. Nothing will get through the Senate and it will all be comparison for voters to consider in 2024--along with what citizen-supporting work the Republicans got done while spinning revenge wheels to try to cover up their own criminality, corruption, and veniality.

Sure, put Jim Jordan right out there in the spotlight. Invite some of the former college athletes he was supposed to protect.

Didn’t Trump do something similar at one of the debates in 2016?

Maybe the GOP will pull that same shit that cost them the re-elections of Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama. They create chaos and foolishly think that if they stink up the world enough the American public will reward them with a Presidential win.

The Republican brand is becoming synonomous with ignorance and social conflict. The so-called "moderate" Republicans are too wimpy to stand up to the bullies within their own Party. They won't pass any legislation of substance.

The “republicans” have two years to further damage their toxic brand.

They’re off to an excellent start.

You keep missing the reality...they can't do anything that will make a Republican not vote Republican. I really wish Democrats would accept this simple fact.

No matter what:

A Democrat will always vote Democrat
A Republican will always vote Republican
And there are no true Independents

I believe it’s been demonstrated fairly clearly recently that there are indeed “independent” swing voters.

I voted for a Republican in the last election.

So what are you? And if it is true there are no true independent voters, why does the vote sometimes go Dem and sometimes go Repub? There are those who vote only for one party, no matter what or how much it stinks. They close their eyes to the politics, the issues, sometimes to their own best interest. What ya'll fail to understand is those people DO NOT DECIDE ELECTIONS! The ones in the middle the "not true independents", the ones willing to vote either side depending on who they perceive will uphold most of the policies they want are the ones who do decide elections. But you go right on believing what you do. Sometimes it's better not to try to correct someone and just let them be wrong.

It isn't true

Not only the ones who switch which party they vote for, but also those who just don’t vote based on a particular candidate.

I would say the latter of those ^ two has decided the outcome of several elections recently.

So what are you?
Dribbs is a seditionist that openly advocates for the dissolution of the United States. Talks about relocating Dems and 'Pubs to blue or red states accordingly, by force if necessary and then splitting the country along those lines.

Moron says what?

I don't gaslight and certainly have no reason to lie about my vote. (I actually posted it when I early voted)
Your brain is as foul as your lame comebacks. You are a dyed in the wool liberal who mouths off in any forum that supports Trump.

Found it quite ironic that El-Paso was as antiseptic as a high school cafeteria, the Soviet news agency Tass would be proud, could learn strategic lessons from the Biden crime family on how to manipulate propaganda.

At one time...there were independents. Those days are long gone. People have a choice. If you vote for Fascism...you ARE A FASCIST regardless of whether you call yourself an "independent". That is the difference. If you vote for a Party that takes away a woman's right to choose....you SUPPORT TAKING AWAY A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE. Sorry Comshaw...I respect you...but this is the reality we live in. Nor the one in your head

A person who does not vote a party line, but votes the issues they want addressed, no matter the party those issues are attached to, no matter who agrees with their choice, is an “independent voter”. Calling a seagull a chicken doesn't make it so.
While it is a bird, it damn sure ain't no chicken.

Independent
1) not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself: an independent thinker.
2) not subject to another's authority or jurisdiction; autonomous; free: an independent businessman.
3) not influenced by the thought or action of others: independent research.
4) not dependent; not depending or contingent upon something else for existence, operation, etc.

a fifth of a billion dollars 200 mill.
this is an Arizona's reeps idea of border security - a bunch of shipping containers with razor wire on top.
pssst reepies - it looks like shit, and is as worthless as shit. you just wasted 200 million.
somehow, if that amount of money was actually spent, i suspect it found its way right into the pockets of those linked to the ones determining where it got spent... and right back into their own via "favours". That or they were really so stupid as to get conned...oh, wait, there's a lot of stupid involved so maybe.
