From the better late than never department, the Biden administration quietly announced resumption and expansion of Trump-era border polices ahead of his trip to the border Sunday. Highlights include expansion of Title 42 to include expelling illegal aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, and resumption of the Trump era transit ban, which would make migrants at the border ineligible for asylum if they didn’t first seek protection in another country, such as Mexico, on their way to the U.S. The president’s actions are a response to the rapidly worsening border crisis marked by a record 2.2 million arrests over the past fiscal year and El Paso’s state of emergency declaration last week.

I don't subscribe to the WSJ. Do you have another source?

I think that it's something that will not be pursued with due diligence and that these pronouncements are being driven by internal reelection polling (even though Rasmussen polling shows that 55% of likely voters polled do not want him to run again) that show voters coming down on the side of border enforcement. In short, it's just words. Words he won't even remember once he's started digging into his ice cream...

And what are the plans for the millions already here? I suggest mass revocation of their green cards for a start.

As we have discussed before, better to go after the employers and when no one will hire them, they'll go home.

We know where the employers are. ;) ;)

Start with all Hispanic immigrants who self-identify as white racists called Ted.

Why don't we start with the fact that they aren't 'immigrants', they're illegal aliens. Then we can follow up with the fact that they aren't all Hispanic. At last count over 80 nations are being represented by the illegals.

If they were illegally here, they wouldn't need title 42 to block them from pursuing migration.

Title 42 is being used to deny them their legally pursued migration claims.

The black and white view of migrants is a typical myopic problem with the right.

Ahh, so now it's "migration." How convenient.

Stripping away any discussion based on politics or virtue signaling the fact is we don't need them here. They are uneducated, unskilled, and unhealthy and more than a few are criminals. They represent exactly what a high tech society doesn't need as well as a financial burden on the taxpaying citizen.

It has always been about migration.

Whether you desire discussion on what is actually happening versus your bullshit "they are all illegals" obfuscation is your own issue.

Yes, it is 'migration.' A group of individuals attempting to force their way into another nation illegally.

Strip them of their green cards and make it a felony for any employer to knowingly employ said illegals.

As previously stated. IlDuce74, do you need a link?

Or actually acknowledge immigration laws and focus on fixing the problems with them.

Either they have a right to be heard in court under the law or they don't. Title 42 is just a way to make it so they don't. It doesn't change the fact that without title 42, they do.

You not wanting "them" here is noted.

Someone once complained about me not contributing to the discussion....not sure I quite remember who.

By the way ...increasing the penalty for breaking the law doesn't fix the problems with the law. It just transfers enforcement to a different place.

If you had looked up (to what has been posted), it does transfer it: to entities responsible for the hiring with known, fixed locations and responsible to the law and thus punishable whereas the illegal aliens (not migrants) are not, in fact the Left's polity is to hold them harmless. Since they tend to view corporations as evil, I would think that they would be on board for this type of draconian solution, but they're not and that begets the question: Why?

The answer would probably be that as hands out for handouts, they will be reliable (and free) votes for the Left and garner more power and expansion for the longed-for Socialist Welfare State. And who will pay for that? The Left believes that it is the corporate body, but corporations do not pay taxes and illegal aliens given amnesty and working for slave wages well, they just don't contribute all that much to the actual tax base.

And yet it doesn't address other reasons for migrants to come here nor does it address the backlog of people waiting for their day in court.

Again....an oversimplified view of things. Employers are already breaking the law and neither Democrats or Republicans have made any effort to increase enforcement. Instead they have focused on deportations and specifically in this case (title 42) using a policy to sidestep addressing the issues at all.

Changing the punishment does not increase enforcement.

I'll reiterate to get back to the OP - Neither Title 42 nor the transit law changes are about green cards nor employers.

They are specifically meant to reduce influx of those seeking asylum or other legal means of migration by reducing the number of people eligible for a court hearing.

I favor addressing the problem at the origination countries of the issue, by increasing awareness and access to claims that typically are being made at the border. I do not favor using title 42 policies, as it's not actually addressing the problem.

Court and immigration resources should be increased to address existing backlogs and future immigration cases.

Demonstrating how clueless he is, Biden actually said this in his policy announcement speech:

“It’s not like people are sitting around a table somewhere in Central America and saying, ‘I got a great idea. Let’s sell everything we have. Let’s give it to a coyote, a smuggler. They’ll take us on a harrowing journey for thousands of miles to get to the United States, then we’re going to illegally cross the border.’”

Sounds good until you bother to think about it for 1 or 2 seconds.

Throw in the fact that the boomer's start retiring en mass this year. The stupid bastards that think opening the border is good policy are the ones that are going to be stuck with the bill. Fuck'em if they're that stupid, they can pay for the boomer's AND the illegals.

If this is true I am glad. :D

Biden’s visit to El Paso was nothing short of a sanitized dog and pony show that literally insulted the intelligence of CBP and other border officials. I could hear Mexican cartels laughing their asses off at that incompetent fool. The Cartels could have lobbed mortar rounds over the border and that incompetent fools would be clueless.
