I've subbed to both men and women but in saying that I have met 2 in my life who had the ability to make me break which to me was always my personal goal in sub mode.
Don't stress yourself about it if he's worth it he will show himself as true to deserving your submission, better to wait for that one who sets your world on fire.

My point of view is I shouldn't deem to inflict what I haven't experienced myself. Every single tool, every form of degradation and humiliation I've ever subject a sub to is something I have had used on me. How better to know their feelings than to put yourself in their shoes first. Obviously everyone reacts differently but it's easier to determine a healthy way forward to a goal if you have a certain common ground.
