Sandford Fleming was a Railroad man so he knew first hand what chaos (and not the good kind) non-standard time caused. The internet will tell you that it is presently 6:40 pm Eastern Time and

1:39am Thursday in Finland

11:39 pm in the UK

3:39 pm in Vegas

12:39 pm Thursday in NZ

and

6:39am Thursday in Thailand.
