I use cloves and clove oil regularly makes a good beard and blade oil, smells nice too. And I concur on the garlic I just keep adding until it tastes right.

I think 'more' was the problem. I marinated chicken in soy sauce, vinegar, peppercorn and garlic. But it came out tasting like raw garlic even after I cooked it
