Comments That Make Your Day

I knew my most recent story would be hated by a lot of readers, despite all the clues to style and content stuck at the top of it. (a kinky submissive guy who isn't a sissy nor gay? More taboo than incest...)

So it was nice to see at least one person liked it and got what I was trying to do:

"Well, OMG what a lovely story. Such a loving couple! I love the relationship those two have. Fantastic word play, psychological messing with each other's mind. What a fantastic story. An easy 5 stars."

I put at the end of my recent story to please comment especially if you wanted to see more of these characters.

Loved the psychological aspect rather than a straight out scene. Please continue.

(adds to the pile of drafts)

Just received this great one on last year's summer contest entry Seaside with Two Sisters:

This is a great story. It's amazing how you portray them making love...the intimacy, the beauty of the girls orgasms, how special making love is. Emma and Mia also seem like wonderful, special people...it's impressive you can do this in such a short story. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!

To make it extra special, this reader also just became follower 1000. Yay!

In today's edition of 'why in God's name did you even click on it then?' we have my brief 2k word story A Half-Decent Performance.

The category is 'Romance' and the tag line is 'A bad shift at the strip-club just got better.'

Thats Romance and Stripping, right there, right?

never marry a stripper or a women who would strip. Ya, easy money, but taking the easy way out is not always the best option. When things get tough again, as they do, what then?
So you wanted the kind of romance story where he screws her a few times then tells her she's not good enough for him? Gotcha.

I was happy to see that my Holiday Contest entry Only You, is getting some pretty nice comments:

Being a fan of yours, I was looking forward to reading your story. I was a little worried it was going to be a little too sweet but damn, I could not put it down. I read it during breakfast, I read it at work, I read it in the parking lot. Why was life interfering with me finishing this? Your story was sweet and I loved every minute of it. 5 stars.

Brilliant and beautiful like a Christmas star, which this story certainly is. Top 3 of my fave stories on this site. Just the thing I needed to pull me out of my doldrums. 5 stars and a fave!

But of course, I had to get one nasty one from my favorite critic, Overcritical:

It was just so predictable. Nothing exciting happened to jeopardize the canned plot. I hope the readers that like lime jello are happy. 3*

The really crazy thing is, it was a long story, over 27,000 words. Which makes me wonder why anyone in their right mind would read something that long right to the end, just so he could leave another nasty comment. He is indeed, one very strange man.

Got some comments on my Winter Holiday story Only One Bed, Again! The intro mentions it leans heavily on the "oh no, there's only one bed!" trope.

"Thank you - perhaps a trope - but well done, nevertheless."

But this one made me laugh - the brother shags his sister and hums songs, lyrics including 'sweet little sister'.

"I'm happy to report this story reminded me more of seeing Billy Idol in concert than shagging my sister. LOL."

A nice comment on April Fool No Longer. Not sure I liked the ending, but it was complimentary.

5 Stars on a great Story . Heck I thought I did good sending pictures and a video to my ex's family

What the heck did he mean? Is his meaning clearer if I read the story?

Not a specific comment, but every so often I give a character a profession or hobby, and end up getting feedback from readers who want to talk shop because they believe it's something I do IRL. Being able to make something feel realistic enough to draw that kind of response is always gratifying. Just got another one from "Curl & Figure". Closest I've ever come to woodworking or sawmilling was selling logs to the local mill for beer money, and camp craft in Boy Scouts.

YouTube research for the win ;)

My Sci Fi story The White Room has been up for over a year now, but from time to time it still draws in great comments like this one from a few days ago:

"It's rare to read a unique story. Alien abductions aren't unique, but this concept of them is. I enjoyed it very much, but also appreciated hugely your insistence throughout on understanding the retention of control and will by both Chloe and Nick. Well done."

And then there's this one, which I received yesterday:

"Fucking what?? Hucow?? That's a prostitute...a whore. I wish I could fucking unread it."

That's one to treasure, Simon. Better than, "Eat my condom," I reckon!

There's a thought for an anthology: Stories Better Left Unread.

Sometimes, simple and earnest do the trick, like this one I got this morning:

DUDE! OMG! THAT WAS AWESOME!

When I published my latest story, Accidental Nudes, I specifically stated in the Afterwards that while the story had the potential to continue, I preferred the idea if it being a single, stand alone story thar allows the reader to create their own scenarios of what happens next.

So of course the first four comments all asked for a sequel 😆.

Then this one came in just now:

"by Anonymous user on 16 minutes ago
Ok, I’ll be that other guy. I agree that you should drop it right here and let all the readers who enjoyed the story (definitely ME) imagine our own next chapter. You move on and give us yet another well thought out, well written story that we will enjoy, like you proposed! Win Win!"

I had one on After the Future is Gone that said he sent it to a bunch of buddies going through divorces and it cheered them up. That felt really nice.

The White Room is probably the story I'm most proud of since I started publishing here. It was also the hardest to write.

So to get a comment on it like this over a year after publishing it absolutely makes my day:

"Anonymousabout 1 hour ago

Beautiful. One of my favourite stories on the site... no, one of my favourite stories period! Unlike other stories, this one was so emotional, Nick and Chloe were so relatable, and the concept was so original that it outweighed any of the negatives. I like how the abduction was never explained, because that was never the focus - the true focus was on the characters and how they grew and developed together, growing their romance and their bond.

I know they'll get together and start a family together after the end of this story, goodness knows they deserve it! And I do hope that you'll write a sequel one day, even if it is a short one, because I really enjoyed these characters and would like to see more of them."

Despite all the upfront warnings that this was not a man being humiliated for, nor being a sissy (the title is Strength is a Caged Cock ffs), voters didn't much like a submissive man who isn't a wimp.

So it was nice to get comments from a few people who liked it:

"What a wonderful story this is! And the author is right, there at the beginning, where he says a submissive husband doesn’t have to be a pitiful wimp, weak as tap water. He can be a strong, confident man, sure of himself. A strong man who gives authority and power over to his wife on cue. In the story Jake/Jacob and Cat/Catherine have lively verbal interchange, full of humor and warmth. This couple has that ‘secret sauce’ of a strong, intimate relationship, with each having great respect for the other."

I've had some good comments on my story Chalet Retreat.

But when I tried to send 'thank you' to those who had commented, at first Lit's system said 'user does not exist' and then the comments disappeared, only to come back when I went in another way. Odd.
