It's a hostile takeover. He emptied the C suite, and sent the data analytics team out, for starters. He pledged to fire 75% coming in, so I guess the goal is to rebuild from scratch, basically, because massive resignations were already expected, and apparently there is no intention to prevent or negotiate.

Makes sense, and it would have been so psychopathic.
I'd agree with his actions only to a certain point -- fire 1/4th of staff, those who were in charge of Politics and of censorship, those are your enemies and could sabotage you. But don't fire the essential technical staff.

----I'm quite attuned to these things, because my friend's local Rest Home was bought by an immigrant from a 3rd world country. You know what he did? He made technically redundant most Australian caregivers over 55-iish, and replaced them with young&fit Filipino workers from underdevelopped villages.​

Musk has no experience in communication media and is tied up with Tesla, which is currently facing trouble & competition from Chinese. There's a good argument to be made that Boring Co. tunnels are vaporware.

Tesla Energy systems work fairly well, though, and are a source of growth for the company. Musk may be a moral morass with questionable business acumen, but when a technology works, it works.
