Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

I'm a star wars and star trek fan, I have friends that either 1 or the other but not both and there is no humour with it as far as their concerned.

My arguement is one of them had Jar Jar and the other Neelix and if your going to be serious and rant about either of them then it's off to the back of the queue with yi! They were both terrible characters but both had unbelievable characters.

Star Trek wins for me because of the Inner Light episode. To this day one of the most beautiful, moving and emotional things I've ever seen, still gives me the feels.. 😥
Star Wars is great, don't get me wrong, but I grew up with the prequel trilogy, so by the time I knew what I was watching Lucas had already done quite a bit of damage to the franchise. For me Disney was just the last nail in the coffin.

There's been a lot of mistakes in the various Star Trek series(s). But I'm still touched by it's positive messages and thought provoking themes. My favorite episode was season 3 of The Next Generation, entitled the most toys.

It has been interesting to watch The Orville, from initially 'giving it a go' as some Trekky spoof.......

TNG annoyed me with the episode suggesting anything faster than Warp 7(?) generated space pollution :(.
(Saying that will probably watch them all again from scratch and will no doubt appreciate better as I'm not a spotty teenager now :))

So you grew up with episodes 1-3 then if your saying prequel aye? Yeah, quite a bit of damage lol
Disney have given us Mando though and as much as their treating it as a cash cow I've watched the first 2 episodes of Obi Wan and have to say it's pretty decent too.
Star Trek wise I kinda stopped with Next Gen. Watched a few Voyager and Deep Space but couldn't get into them. As you said Next Gen had episodes made you think, wasn't just lets meet and fight aliens like such else out there. I hear Picard is good but I've no got round to it yet. I'm on season 4 Stranger Things (episodes 5) and watching Sandman (up to ep 6) and loving both but RL has a habit of getting in the way so rarely get to binge anything, rarely get peace to read hence me re-reading Sandman digitally on my phone.
Again, 1st world problems 😆

I haven't seen beyond the first season, but I can tell it was made with appreciation for Star Trek. So far it's a good show from what I've seen.

I agree the warp 7 issue was nonsense. Especially seeing them cruising at Warp 7 in the very next episode . It wasn't pollution, however, it was the traveling at those speeds created tears and riffs and Subspace. There are a ton of these abandoned issues/ story lines in the Star Trek universe. I think mostly due to the fact that these shows were being produced on the Fly.

One of my biggest pet peeves was how they would keep going to and abandoning data's ability or inability to use contractions.

I liked DS9, although it didn't really gain momentum till towards the end of the second season. Voyager had a lot of promise, and pretty much launced the UPN. My big issue was inconsistencies with continuity. For instance, throughout the show (Voyager) they have a limited number of torpedoes in their torpedo bay, but they never ran out. DS9 was going great until it's final season when the had to finally tie up all their loose ends. It just kinda fell apart. Dicovery is a mess, and Picard is touch and go. My feelings, is a lot of great ideas with poor execution.

So sad when people are that intolerant. I like both, and I tend not to get fanatic with entertainment.
I'm guilty of being fanatic with certain things, some entertainment wise, but agree with your intolerance stance, I have a low threshold with practically everything and intolerance. I'm so happy I can bring up my daughter in society these days, im not blind, I know its not perfect, never will be, and still has a loooooong way to go, but comparing today to the 80's for example when I grew up there are huge differences. We live in a semi detached and the couple next door are a gay married couple. That certainly wouldn't have happened when I was her age but for her it's the norm and I am so happy about things like that. Her granny was telling me the other day that the wee one pulled her up for something she said, the bairn had 2 of her barbies kissing and granny said 'but their girls' and the wee one replies that's OK and Tom and Harry next door kiss and are married too. Was so proud, im looking at granny and telling her the bairns right and dont be telling her otherwise.
Will not have intolerance in my house, in any way, there's no place for it and I dont want daughter to know anything other than that. Accept people for who they are, no matter what colour, creed, sexuality, gender etc. You have no idea what people go through in their own lives and deal with in their own heads, dont contribute to the hate and negativity, support people, be there for them. I can see and always have done that the person you see is beautiful for who they are, I can be attracted to them and have no idea what 'bits and bobs' they have because why does that matter anyway?
Best thing about being a dad is helping bring up someone to be in that mindset and help society as opposed to having hatred and bigotry installed in them and not learning or developing.

Sorry, went off on a rant again and have done war and peace. I always worry when I do this.
