Genuine question? What's the appeal of feeling dumb?
For me...it's not feeling dumb exactly. It's having the serious part of my brain, which sadly can be most of it when I'm not feeling great, turn off for a while and being silly and relaxed in a way that's sometimes really hard for me otherwise, especially with other people.

sometimes people can't stop their brain and analyze obsess over everything, then analyze or obsess over analyzing and obsessing. If one actually has something stressful or serious on their mind, it can be a long cycle. dumb or numb can break it. some people it may be the only silence from their thoughts.

It seems submitting is quite effective in that sense. Thinking switched OFF.

before I learned easy ways to stop the cycle, I had a couple user friendly party guy friends up my sleeve. I found a little substance abuse and a significant fuckathon with the right kind of guy, who could make the world fall away, would break the cycle. big fan of the fuckathon lol.

what term then? addict? and of course someone just smoking weed doesn't make them that either but how do you find out who won't be addicted and who will? that's why i used that term
Honestly I'm going to say this right here right now. I'm not offended by it if I had of taken my mothers line through life I would have been a full fledged crackhead I know it, knew it from young I was addicted to shit from birth.
I have all the tendencies of being a junkie without the full addition.
If someone like me doesn't take offense to it nobody else should either.

I'm kind of with LittleSwitchy on this. "Junkie" is a term that is more appropriately used if you're talking about shooting heroin or something.

I'd be a lot more worried about someone with a gun and legal alcohol than a gun and weed.

It's true that you don't know who will become addicted. But there are many, many things to be addicted to, and a lot of them are perfectly legal and no one tests for.

It's kind of a 1950s reefer madness kind of thing to associate extreme behavior with smoking weed; there's just not really any good evidence-- much more for alcohol-- and it's another things where perpetuating those ideas doesn't help much.

I wouldn't take to much offense to junkie, but I will also say things like caffeine junkie, crime tv junkie etc.

yes, gun with alcohol is much worse. pothead probably too lazy to go get it, or if they try, forget and find Doritos instead. drunk dudes and guns are much harder to control.

Yeah, I'm not really offended by it exactly, but I just...well, NY is in the process of legalizing, and you just wouldn't believe (well, you would) the idiot shit that people say. So...language on this one seems kind of...not important exactly, but language frames how we think about things.
