Thank you so much. That had been confusing me for some time nowyes and that's the major difference in capitalizing between english and german (also: (1) adjectives of nationalities and such won't be capitalized unless they're part of a name and (2) in german we capitalize the first word after a colon if it's a full sentence that follows)
example for (1):
english: He is an American citizen. / He is an American.
german: Er ist ein amerikanischer Büger. / Er ist ein Amerikaner. ('Bürger' and 'Amerikaner' capitalized because of them being nouns)
And...
