Mar-A-Lago raided by FBI

A view from the left - Alan Dershowitz weighs in:

Justice Department should have subpoenaed documents, not raided Trump’s home

“For zealous Trump haters, anything done to Trump is justified. For zealous Trump lovers, nothing done to him is ever justified. For the majority of moderate, thoughtful Americans, however, the Justice Department’s raid likely seems — at least at this point in time — to be unjust or needlessly confrontational.”

the same guy who says the President is above the law. 👍

Looks like the raid was conducted to be as stealthy as possible to avoid any political circus.

The affidavit to obtain the search warrant, the intelligence source says, contained abundant and persuasive detail that Trump continued to possess the relevant records in violation of federal law, and that investigators had sufficient information to prove that those records were located at Mar-a-Lago—including the detail that they were contained in a specific safe in a specific room.

It was standard practice for a private citizen (which is what Trump is--and not at all a good citizen anyway) who it's strongly suspected will either destroy the documents or give them to an enemy, both of which Trump as shown he would do. They really should have shown up with trucks and jerked the material out of there fifteen months ago.

It's also standard practice not to publicly justify the action before an actual prosecution in court. This is to protect the possibly innocent target. And the congressional Republicans can stick this up their asses. They caused the Trump problem to begin with by being spineless and brainless (as the board Trumpettes are).

One question is whether they found either Melania or Barron there. Where, oh where, have Melania and Barron drifted off to?

I agree completely.

And, they should have filed Contempt of Congress charges a long time ago. Garland has been behind the curve at a time in history where we can't afford to be behind the curve.

I was about to note how quiet AJ has been today, and then I saw why. He's been smacked around so much, he probably needs that tinfoil hat to keep his remaining brain cells in place.
to be fair, AJ vented all of the talking point distractions on the list yesterday. Can't really keep repeating himself, it wouldn't be artful. :D

Cheeto's biggest cheerleaders in here have been more or less mum as they wait to see which way the dangling sword swings above their hero. Everyone else spinning around their moons are just yappin' the clock out.

judge believed to have signed the search warrant orders DOJ to file a response to motions to unseal that same warrant

This is the first report I’ve seen on the warrant being sealed. I’m wondering if the reporter who wrote this story is confusing the search warrant with the affidavit. The several legal experts I’ve come across since this story broke said the subject of a search warrant (in this case Trump) is always given a copy of the warrant and is free to release it. A legal expert with 25 years experience at the DOJ explained this on NBC News this evening. She also said that search warrants mostly focus on conditions of the search. What can be searched, what cannot, inventory requirements, that type of thing. She said information regarding what they are searching for can be very vague. It might say “classified documents” but no more than that. Her closing point was that the substantive information everyone is most interested in is contained in the affidavit and those are typically kept sealed.

Please post if you see more reporting on this. Thanks.

The several legal experts that you've come across all work at Fix News. Hush.

The news outlet I cited in my comment is NBC News. The legal expert who spoke on the subject was MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance.

Here is her bio:
Joyce Alene White Vance (born July 22, 1960) is an American lawyer who served as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 2009 to 2017.[1] She was one of the first five U.S. Attorneys, and the first female U.S. Attorney, nominated by President Barack Obama.[1][2]

Her credentials look very relevant to this topic, but if you want to take exception to me citing a NBC/MSNBC I certainly understand.

Florida is an extra penis that the US doesn't need. I say we swap their positions with Guam.
Good point. Have you ever noticed that the tip of the Florida penis is always ejaculating on Cuba? Sort of a love-hate obsession.

i'm almost tempted to take him off ignore to see what he's up to...

almost

nah, life's too short (like him) and he's not funny enough to be worth it

The only reason I never put him on iggy is because sooner or later, his mouth writes a check that his ass can't cash. I love seeing that song play out. :D

This past July was so delish. His almost three-year goodie bag was Thanos snapped in the middle of delivery. He's scrubbing most of his shit now after posting because as much as he loves being a fuckboi, he don't want that smoke with Kitty Mama. And we don't have to read his mosquito bites in threads in the process.

Win-win any way you slice it! :nana:

You didn't "come across" anything. You have the news on the idiot box 24/7 because you're old with nothing else to do. And it wasn't "several." It was one. FFS.

I don't know why these mofos love pretending they're on some super special über internet that nobody else has. Most of the time it's just junior mint aggregate news portals taking stuff from the big ones at the top.

IrezumiKiss should take up flyfishing. First he had 'em jumping onto the hook; now they're jumping straight into the boat.

Political theatre folks, line up here for a laugh a minute!

So, standard practice?? When was the last time a former president had his home invaded by the justice department. Your TDS is off the charts. Your mental state disqualifies you from any intelligent conversation about the subject matter.

When was the last time a former president destroyed and stole government documents after leaving office? Your TDS is off the charts. The fbi raid criminals.
