“Biden to hire 87,000 new IRS agents.” Go to the New York Times web site and search this: “Biden to hire 87,000 new IRS agents.” Zilch on both. Why do you suppose the Post and the Times are ignoring this story?

This is a bid for total totalitarian control over the personal business of free people. They want to monitor every financial transaction of $600 or more.

*chuckle* That was one of the subjects of discussion at breakfast this morning. I have my own solution to that.

I have two checking accounts. If they were to pass that POS legislation my plan is simple. I'm going to pull $601 out of my investment account and put it one of my checking accounts. Then, daily, I will xfer $601 from one checking account to the other. Back and forth on a daily basis. (Fortunately the institution I do business with will allow me to do this at no charge.) From the IRS standpoint this is going to look like 'new' money on a daily basis.

The avg. IRS audit costs the taxpayer approx. $30,000 in auditors and support staff time. My goal will be to see how much of the taxpayers monies they are willing to waste on this bullshit.

Two other points;

Anyone have any idea how much the compliance costs are going to be for the banks? Those costs are going to be passed along to their customers. You don't think the banks are going to 'eat' those costs do you?

Remember the old cartoons where the taxman comes to the door and shakes down the entire household and it's belonging's? That would be the next step, a 'personal property tax' (aka 'wealth tax'). They'll sell it as 'we're only going to tax the rich' but eventually they'll get around to making sure you aren't rich and hiding it.

I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with the IRS having more auditors.

Do you know who fears audits? People who cheat on their taxes or search for every loophole they can find not to pay taxes.

60% of Americans in 2020 didn't have to pay any taxes at all. Look it up.

Most of this 60% of people don't make enough money to be worried about paying taxes, so why would they be worried about tax audits?

The rich and cheaters fear audits. I'm assuming that those of you against more auditors are rich and/or cheaters? Because if you don't make much money or have a sufficient number of legitimate deductions -- children, healthcare, etc. -- and you are against more auditors, then you're a fucking idiot because the auditors are going after the cheating rich, whose money will be used to build schools, roads, etc. for you and your family.

But hey, don't listen to me. I pay my taxes willingly.

Taxpayers don't like paying extra to be harassed.

Right, people with money and property to lose.

They aren't, the 60% of people who don't pay taxes are largely on the left.

The rich and cheaters fear audits.

Anyone engaging in enough commerce to have something to lose fear audits.

Middle class, business/property owner.

Your attitude is why we need a flat tax.... you 60%'ers who don't pay shit need to start coughing up 37% and paying YOUR FAIR SHARE. :D

But hey, don't listen to me. I pay my taxes willingly.

You sound like you don't pay much if any taxes.

I hate this bullshit about loopholes. Who do you think put them there? Your asshole representatives. Every American has an obligation to pay a little tax as legally required. You have a right to donate more if you wish, but it is not legally required. Americans are GROSSLY overtaxed. I resent the government saying that greedy business owners are holding the lower class down. In reality it is the government crushing the people through onerous taxation, regulation and obscene over-spending.

Hey now, those representatives and senators are BEYOND reproach and perfect in all ways so long as they have (D) next to their name.

Under no circumstances will their worshipers ever consider holding congress critters responsible for their actions.

The government wastes taxpayer dollars like a crack addict screwing hookers. We know which party does that, don't we?

You seem overly concerned about the IRS collecting backlogs......how many years do you owe?

Commented like a true taker. You ever shut up? $1000.00 bet that I pay 10 times the amount you do. Mind your own business, leach. Brainwashed, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

I'm sorry you don't like taxes. Maybe move somewhere there aren't any.

Our new Constitution is now established, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes,”-- Ben Franklin
