Gasoline prices continue to fall in a handful of states to $2.99 a gallon, marking the 50th consecutive day of declines and giving consumers a reprieve as high inflation rates have walloped their budgets.

Gas stations in Oklahoma and Kansas are selling unleaded gasoline for $2.99 as of Aug. 4, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, the Boston provider of retail-fuel-pricing information.
The national average is $4.09 a gallon, while 21 states are selling gasoline below $4. A handful of stations have lowered gasoline to $2.99 a gallon.

"We’ll see the national average fall to $3.99 a gallon next week, and it could fall to $3.59 a gallon if we avoid hurricanes," he said.

thanks, President Biden!

“Wow, that’s pretty incredible,” said Bartiromo, a critic of the Biden administration.
Employment rose 528,000 in July, a big beat, the unemployment rate down to 3.5 percent. 3.5 percent, that is a decrease in unemployment rate. When you look inside some of these numbers, you see employment professional business services, that increased 89,000 in July employment and healthcare rose by 70,000 in July. In the government rose by 57,000.

Employment and construction increased by 32,000, it’s interesting that construction employment of 82,000 now 82,000 higher than … February of 2020 levels, so construction has come back and then some. Manufacturing increased by 30,000 jobs in July. Social assistance added 27,000 jobs retail trade was up by 22,000 in July. That was big one. Retail trade is now 208,000 jobs, above its pre-pandemic levels, transportation and warehousing added 21,000 jobs.
nice one, Mr. President (y) 😇

FACT SHEET: President Biden Signs the PACT Act and Delivers on His Promise to America’s Veterans

PACT Act Marks Most Significant Expansion of VA Health Care in 30 Years

Today, President Biden is delivering on his promise to strengthen health care and benefits for America’s veterans and their survivors
by signing the bipartisan Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act.
The PACT Act is the most significant expansion of benefits and services for toxic exposed veterans in more than 30 years.

In his first State of the Union address, President Biden called on Congress to send a bill to his desk that would comprehensively address
toxic exposures that have impacted veterans, as well as their families and caregivers, and provide them with the health care and benefits
they have earned and deserve. Thanks to the bipartisan leaders of the House and Senate Veterans Committees, the PACT Act does just that.

President Biden believes that our nation has a sacred obligation to properly prepare and equip the troops we send into harm’s way – and
to care for them and their families when they return home. Sometimes military service can result in increased health risks for our veterans,
and some injuries and illnesses like asthma, cancer, and others can take years to manifest. These realities can make it difficult for veterans
to establish a direct connection between their service and disabilities resulting from military environmental exposures such as burn pits – a necessary
step to ensure they receive the health care they earned.

President Biden made clear that supporting those who wear the uniform is a commitment that unites all Americans – Democrats, Republicans,
and Independents – and why he made supporting our veterans a core element of his Unity Agenda. And, the legislation supports
President Biden’s reignited Cancer Moonshot to help end cancer as we know it.

By signing the bipartisan PACT Act, President Biden is delivering for America’s veterans and their families, and demonstrating that
we can – and will – come together where we agree to get big things done for our country.

President Biden continues the presidential habit of taking counsel with experts on subjects to better inform himself in his role:

Sources familiar with the August 4 meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, told the outlet the experts described the current moment as among the most dangerous to Democracy in modern history.

The people in the meeting included Princeton University history professor Sean Wilentz, University of Virginia historian Allida Black, journalist Anne Applebaum, and presidential historian Michael Beschloss. Also in the meeting was speechwriters for Biden, including Vinay Reddy and Jon Meacham, and White House senior adviser Anita Dunn.
The outlet reported the scholars compared the current state of affairs to the era that preceded the Civil War, as well as fascist movements that emerged ahead of World War II. They specifically noted Abraham Lincoln's 1860 election and President Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1940 election.
The meeting was in step with Biden's habit of seeking outside experts to provide guidance on domestic and foreign policy issues. He also met with former President Bill Clinton in May to discuss inflation and the midterms, and with a group of foreign-policy experts in January ahead of an anticipated Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The meetings also continue a tradition of US presidents seeking big picture context from historians that started with President Ronald Reagan but stalled under former President Donald Trump, according to The Post.

More bad news for Republicans (are they still a thing?)

Jobless claims are unexpectedly down.
