Do you work with modeling? Are the current models sophisticated enough to make predictions?

I don't work with modeling directly but I understand a fuckton about models.

The problem with all models is that they are limited by their past experience. Just like the ads that say "past performance is not an indicator of future returns" or whatever that is.

These are very unusual times. No model can predict that very well, and macro models are not great at fine-tuned predictions. But I believe in theory, and basic econ laws, and the general direction that things should go if nothing ELSE weird happens.

No, seriously, economic and financial literacy in this country is just so fucking bad. Everything is about economics in one way or another (even sex, folks), but people think it's just some stockmarket thing and they only get interested when it all goes to hell. And then I have to explain that high oil prices are about less supply and more demand and not an evil conspiracy of either the oil companies or Biden. (NO I DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS.) At least when I can't stand it anymore. Chill, people. Inflation will come down.We might not have a recession if everyone would just stop acting like we're already in one. It's just going to take longer than five minutes.

Anyway I like it when things make people pay attention to the economy. It's better when they don't suck a lot, though.

I don’t totally blame oil companies. I think We made a bad decision to allow individuals and large investment groups to speculate on commodity futures. As soon as some talking head says “Gas will be $7.00 a gallon “ it becomes self fulfilling prophecy. They should limit who can buy and sell futures to wholesale producers and consumers of the commodity.

Maybe I don’t understand the nuances, but it seems to make sense.

Y'all gonna think I'm weird as fuck but I have never had a loan or a hire purchase in my life.
I was amazed at my staff telling me they get loans for everything and used afterpay/zippay for small household items. (Not sure if you even have those over there.)
A lot of it unnecessary stuff like make up, facials, hairdressers etc

Because you're spending that money, which becomes someone else's income, and someone else's income, and multiplies.

You pay the bank, and it goes to...nothing really, it's repayment of debt, doesn't get spent, gets transferred to another financial instrument...probably the same in the end but like years later.

I might be wrong and I am sure @Mo_Bandy will confirm or not, that his comment was aimed at the “fucking fire” image. He has already said he isn’t here for the pornhub links that often get posted so it is understandable (to me) why he would be pissed off enough to make the comment. Don’t put fucking shitty links in his comments.

@amanuk keeps referring to the mo_bandy show. When he has posted that, Mo is just having normal conversation about Florida, drinks, life, etc. is he not allowed to do that? How to make somebody not feel welcome folks. There are normally 50 conversations going on at once in this thread. If you don’t want to interact with Mo then talk around him. I would suggest trying to interact with him you might get to know him a little better that way.

People don’t like him using the word “skank”. There are many words that get thrown around all the time that Lots of people don’t like but nothing gets said. There are people that will say “Good morning you bunch of freaky fuckers” and are welcomed with open arms.

He might be a cunt at times but I know that if anybody attacked somebody else for their kink, their race, their sexual orientation or gender identity, he would speak out for that person and lay in to the attacker.
