Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

I'm happy to wake up to cocktail recipes this morning!
I'll have to order an Aviator next chance I get...I don't think I want to bother with all the special ingredients to make it at home.
I love a good botanical gin. blue sapphire is my go to, I hope to visit the Islay distillery in September, but I would recommend my local micro distillery that makes quite amazing gin. Very very botanical. Makes a superb g&t
Look for it if you are ever in WA state

Those get togethers sound like a huge amount of fun! You must have some fantastic stories from your time as a bartender.

The best Aviation I have had so far was at Grill 23 in Boston. I could have drank many more than I did! 🤣 I limited myself to two. I read about substituting crème Yvette for the Crème de Violette. Like you, I end up with a lot of left over ingredients! I end up throwing a bunch away, but I don’t want to get the cheap stuff either.
Well, at least liqueurs keep for a very long time.

Everyone says that on substituting them, and IMO anyway, it's like if you have a pizza, a giant pot of oatmeal, and a car, the pizza and oatmeal are substitutes. Not GOOD substitutes, just more like each other than the other thing. So no regrets really! But still looking for uses...

That Ginger Rabbit recipe is really good, but you have to make the simple syrup (easy, if I remember), and it's really a winter drink.

Ooh... envious of your upcoming trip. I've only been to Scotland once, back in 2018. We went to Skye, Inverness, a handful of Speyside distilleries, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Oban. Couldn't make Islay work on that trip, so I guess I'll just have to go back. 😊

ETA: I will keep an eye out for the 5 O'Clock gin.

Most pretty good bars can make an Aviation, so that's for sure a good thing to try somewhere. (The Ginger Rabbit is for sure a DIY cocktail unless they're prepped for it.)

I was out in Portland last month and discovered this, which I liked very, very much, although I can see that it might not be everyone's thing:

Rogue Pinot Farmhouse Gin

Bars .... don't remember the last time I was in one. Stopped at a Hooters a few years back for lunch, but didn't order spirits.

I’ve struck out more often than been successful at finding bars that even have the maraschino liqueur. High end places seem to be more likely to have the ingredients.

I would like to try that gin, but I have a bunch left at home. I had bought a bottle or Ryan Reynolds’s Aviator Gin. It’s good, but not great. I still have to drink it though 😁.

I guess that's a good attitude. I was recently gifted a bottle of mezcal. It's so pretty. But the mezcal is a bit nasty imo. I won't be drinking it for sure 😂
I don’t blame you a bit on that one!! Make it a display only bottle. I love good Tequila, but Mezcal harkens back to college days and generally resulted in my head stuck in a trash can!

Agree. That's what I'm gonna do. Plus I'll serve it to other ppl too. Maybe they'll like it 😂

I love mezcal. It's my go to nowdays. I like tequila too.

Anybody ever listen to Monks chanting? I have no idea what the words are, but most of it is really relaxing.
