Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

Cause someone isn’t Latino doesn’t mean they don’t know what a Mexican coffee is. For you to say that is straight up racist.
Oh he’s white. He don’t know anything cause he’s not Latino. You are race baiting. You showed your true self today

I think it would be better if you replied to Diosa's post directly? So it's quoted? Because otherwise hard to follow, and it's what she object to when you talk about "you" without apparently addressing it to anyone. :)

here (at least in germany - or entire eu?) those milk-substitutes may not be called milk but drink instead js (there was a court decision that says milk needs to come from an animal such as cows goats sheep etc)
So what is, say, almond milk, called? Almond drink?

Which is regulation gone mad, of course. You could quite easily just call real milk "dairy milk". I'm sure most people would be able to tell the difference.

I think i saw on tiktok its like cream? What does it look like?

I feel the same way. I haven't had it myself but it's a good option for when its really cold
I don’t know if I’m making it the same way as on TikTok, but mine looks like melted coffee ice cream, really.
Good morning pervs
Morning! Long time!

Because someone isn’t Latino means they’re no a reliable source on what Mexican coffee is. They should listen to actual Mexicans instead of insisting they know better.

Also, reverse racism isn’t a thing. Racism is based on who has the power in society. That’s always white people.

And finally, you need to look up the definition of race baiting, if you think that’s what Diosa is doing. It’s not. A discussion about race in which one race is portrayed accurately, even if unfavorably, is not race baiting.

I'm not going to apologize for feeling strongly about the topic

What white people fail to understand it's that it isn't about the coffee. It's about the fact that white people tend to "colonize" and/or gentrify foods and drinks from BIPOC and 1) rebrand it as their own and 2) don't give credit to the original culture/country. Literally they'll make something and will act as if they just discover it.

My issue with this particular topic was that I *a Latina born and raised there* pointed out said drink wasn't called Mexican coffee and @LittleSwitchy not only ignored me but continued to claim it was that. In addition to that,
he shared a source from a website in the US and it wasn't even written by a Latino or even go into detail about the origin of the drink etc. It was literally a white girl party enecdote.

THEN some of you (like @Mika1215 ily and I'm not calling you out😘) tried to be the devils advocate or "deescalate" the situation and that just further gaslighted me!

Am I trigerred? Fuck yes. It happens to us ALL the time. In fact, hold on brb...

Here's is a video of white people on tiktok making a drink from Latin America called Aguas Frescas and calling it Spa water! No credit. Nothing.

Last, "directing" comments at me @LittleSwitchy and not quoting or tagging me is passive aggressive and it's playing a victim role.

I'm not saying that white people can't know about other people's food or drinks and what not. But don't act like you know more than someone from that place.

Ok last for real. In Mexico we don't have a drink we call "Mexican coffee" we have cafe de olla and I would say that's Mexican coffee. We also have cafe con piquete which is what I referred to spiked coffee or spiced coffee. I couldn't find an actual link to it but here is an article from a Mexican newspaper (is in Spanish though) that talks about it a little bit but what i read didn't mention tequila. And it refers to it as drinks that have small quantities of alcohol that traditionally don't have alcohol such as coffee. Did I say it doesn't exist? No. I just said it wasn't called that. Literally if he would've said oh i didn't know it wasn't a thing in Mexico that wouldn't be the end of it.
