Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

Mexican coffee. You can order in any flipping bar.
Stop spreading misinformation. That's not Mexican coffee

I never had this
Oh, ok, real Mexican coffee, not alcoholic beverage Mexican coffee.
I've had that. In Mexico. Delicious.
It's bc the one with alcohol is not "mexican coffee"

Like yes its a something that people in Mexico may drink. But its not Mexican coffee.

I don't drink it as much because it's too sweet for me.but it's delicious

One of my favorite in-laws is the best chaiwala in the world. He visits at least once while I'm there just to make me chai because he knows how much I love his chai. Like heaven in my mouth! He says the key is patience. Explains why my chai isn't nearly as good as his. 😂

The first time I ever had chai....

My son (who was maybe 11 then) and I had been wandering Manhattan, just walking, and it was March, and there was a chilly wind off the river. We walked and walked, and finally ended up suddenly freezing cold and hungry with no particular idea where we were, and it wasn't a busy area with a lot of shops, mostly residential. This Indian guy was standing in the door of his restaurant, and he said, you look like you're freezing, come in.

He sat us down...it was the middle of the afternoon, and no one was there... and he said, you need this, and he made me chai.

It was one of the most memorably delicious things ever. That must have been... 16 years ago? And I still remember that deliciousness. I mean, I was really cold and all, but that was some of the best chai ever.

I’m not spreading misinformation. Try reading the link I posted. Just cause you have not heard of it. That doesn’t make it “ misinformation “

A white girl talking about her party experience is not a reliable source when it comes to Mexican drinks

I don't need to read anything to know what's Mexican and what isn't

People!

I think that we can agree that Diosa is right that true Mexican coffee is Cafe Olla, and it is fabulous and non alcoholic, and also that if you go into a bar or restaurant in the US and order Mexican coffee, you will generally get coffee with Kalua and possibly tequila.

Lots of things have the same name but are different things.

After all, we call this stuff that we eat in the US "Chinese food", and it really isn't.

No. Its still isn't Mexican Coffee

I will die in this hill

That they call it Mexican coffee in the US is another thing. That's fine. But that's not its original name.

I'm not really trying to argue about this exactly, and I'm not for a second saying that you are not right, and that true Mexican coffee is not something different. It is.

I'm just saying that if you walk into a bar and order it, in the US, that's not what you're going to get. I don't see this as a lot different from ordering a muffin in the UK...you will get an English muffin, not the muffin that you will get in the US. Or Canada. So from a practical point of view, that's useful to know, both things.

Well technically it is Chinese Food. Just Chinese American food.

There's readings about how just because something is cooked outside of the motherland it still is that country's food. It's just people from that country adapting to the new country's available ingridients.

Food does evolve with time and new ingridients. Sometimes it's the techniques that are still used that might make it traditional still.

Well, you could argue that the Mexican coffee has evolved!

It's not that it's cooked outside the motherland. It's that American Chinese food really does not closely resemble anything that you would eat in China or Taiwan, in the same way that US Mexican coffee in no way resembles Cafe Olla.

My issue with what LS is saying is that he isn't a reliable source. He isn't Mexican. He isn't Latino.

You know what nvm

See you guys later!

Cause someone isn’t Latino doesn’t mean they don’t know what a Mexican coffee is. For you to say that is straight up racist.
Oh he’s white. He don’t know anything cause he’s not Latino. You are race baiting. You showed your true self today
