'Teachers come from the dumbest places in the dumbest colleges'... TN education advisor on secret recording with gov. bill lee present who says zilch

Education majors have the lowest SAT/ACT scores of any entrants into a 4 year degree program. They also have the lowest GRE scores of those seeking a higher degree.
 
Helping children learn things 6 hours a day, 8.5 months of the year is important, but doesn’t require much intelligence, education or training beyond high school.

So… hardly thread-worthy, but typical of butthead.

the reason people are pissed is because this governor, bill lee, did nothing to stand up for the teachers. Nothing. And if their education is considered so poor (and, admittedly there are some teachers who teach utter crap as desired by the maga parents), surely he should be standing up for better education standards for his teachers... but, wait, then they'd BE better educated and not buy into the maga crap and, hell, even start voting for democrats!

he stood (sat) by and watched 80,000 public school teachers in the state HE governs be ridiculed and racism defended. teachers come from all walks of life and are parents, voters, with children in the same schools he's allowing to be dissed so badly. Teachers have friends, and extended families. This won't bode well for his voting numbers if enough people get to see it.

just a few of his comments that are drawing the ire of TN residents:

  • “They are taught that they are going to go and do something to those kids.... Do they ever talk about anything except what they are going to do to these kids?”

  • “In colleges, what you hire now is administrators…. Now, because they are appointing all these diversity officers, what are their degrees in? Education. It’s easy. You don’t have to know anything.”

  • “The philosophic understanding at the heart of modern education is enslavement…. They’re messing with people’s children, and they feel entitled to do anything to them.”

  • “You will see how education destroys generations of people. It’s devastating. It’s like the plague.”

  • “Here’s a key thing that we’re going to try to do. We are going to try to demonstrate that you don’t have to be an expert to educate a child because basically anybody can do it.”
 
Linda Holtzclaw, who invited Lee to come to her school and teach a 70-minute class. Sherry Morgan, a special education teacher at Karns Middle School, asked Lee to come and shadow her for a day.
“Governor Lee, you cannot do what we do,” Morgan said. “I invite you to come to my classroom in the next school year and spend a day with me.”

Andrea Turner, a teacher for over a decade, said Lee’s actions don’t reflect the standards she has for her own students.
“We tell students that integrity is what you do and say when you think no one’s looking,” Turner said. “And I don’t think Gov. Lee expected the public to hear these remarks. And I don’t think he expected us to get to see his complicity with the remarks, his lack of push back and his lack of support for educators.”

Another teacher, Anne Thomas-Abbott, told WVLT News she was hurt by the comments and by Lee’s lack of action.
“I found it offensive on almost every level,” she said. “Silence is the voice of complicity and he’s not only complicit, but he’s going to collude.”

Governor Lee: A man who had to leave better options in his own state and go to Alabama for his education - where he learned to be a mechanic.
 
and so it goes... from bill lee sitting silently while arnn insults generations of teachers, only to break his silence and call for 100 rather than 50 of the schools...to lee saying he barely knows the man, hardly met him, not 'his vision' and more. So.. yeah.. cut education by 15%, shut down the Dept of Education, and demonize teachers !!! THAT is perfect logic!!

The uber rich will be able to afford teachers for their kids!!

Shut down “Headstart” for sure!! Obviously racist!! Look at who’s enrolled!!

Why? Cuz “we” care about kids, but the village has better things to do than help raise kids!

Wait for it! Next!! We have to cut back all those pensions from those worthless teachers!!! Note!! If Soc Sec took 10% vs 6.2% all its funding problems would be reduced!!

Conclusion: Appoint a the person who runs the Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame as head of education.
 
Secy for Education demands more accountability and reports; senator points out they already exist and the secy admits to not having read them.

After listing results from the TRIO studies, the ones she'd no bothered to read or even knew existed, Sen. Jeff Merkley tells her "Your argument that there's no studies, no accountability, it's just actually wrong. And the fact that you're coming here, not even having looked at your own department's studies of these programs in order to be informed about them is profoundly troubling."

This is what happens when you stick highly unqualified people in important positions. No way to run a business, trump.
