If you are going to a Louis CK Comedy show and are familiar with that as his humor, then have at it. I agree, knock yourself out, enjoy it. It's still not equitable. To me, both rapeplay and rape jokes are not on the menu. And that's really what it boils down to. To me. When you say people....you make assumptions for an indeterminate number and type of people. it is overgeneralization.

"Everyone is saying there was election fraud" doesn't make it so.

Easy to call anything contrary to the hole you dig for yourself as virtue signaling. Sounds pretty smart even. Though I question the intent. You could have done without adding that.

The intent of calling it virtue signaling? Because it’s a bunch of people willing to play like their partner is a child, whilst condemning jokes they find offensive. The Louis CK bit is offensive. It’s also hyperbole, like many jokes. Yes, it’s crass. But so are many of the things we enjoy here at Lit and other places.

My point with it all, as this whole thread started, was how someone made a simple joke about playing with her husband’s butthole. Some people can’t see it as a joke, so they get offended.

What is the most bothersome to me is how we’ve raised a group of people with translucent skin. Since when have we had the right not to be offended? I’m baffled at the number of people who are so concerned with being offended.

And, with all that said, I rarely actually have deep interest in the topics on here. They are mostly for a laugh. But this one is actually something that is quite important to me. Not rape jokes, but they ability to use humour as an expression. People use offense in their art often. Rappers lace their music with the n word. Is it offensive? Surely. But why do they do it? Because they are taking that and using it to their advantage. When we limit one’s expression because it offends us, we give up a lot.

So I will actually apologize for saying virtue signaling if it somehow diluted what I was trying to say. That was not my intent, whatsoever. Your posts and responses have been well-thought out. While I disagree, I don’t actually want to lose the point of what I was trying to say.
