It was so nearly excellent as well. I actually think what you did see was fine - it just needed a whole load of context to make it work. For a show that was refreshing in it's lack of filler it's ironic that a slower pace would have saved it from where it ended up.

Whatever happened in the end it had 5/6 seasons of being the best thing on tv.

The Author was too busy sucking his own dick to write the source material.

What I saw in those last 2 seasons was ludicrous. An absolute joke.
Some ideas were great. Which is not surprising because they came from George, not those two dickheads. But how they arrived there was a disgrace.

Yep. I'm still bitter about it, in case you didn't notice. It has only been 3 years. lol

And he pressured as much as he could to get 12/13 seasons. Then more to have 10-episode seasons. Both were overruled.

Perhaps, but he still sold the rights on an incomplete work, and took said cash. I admit it's easy to judge from the outside, but still. We got season 8, so we're allowed our dissappointment.

True, to a certain point. There was still plenty of material that Dick&Dick cut off.
If they had followed the source material, some endings would've made sense and it would have been a great storytelling. Dany's shift it actually happens already in book 5 (season 5), while these two hacks continued with the "break the wheel" bs.

I get it. Covid and WW3 run a close second/third place.

Controversially, I do wonder if some pressure came from the actors, it just wasn't publicised. I can imagine that at 18+ months a series there would have been some serious grumbling about wrapping it up and not going on for the 12 series GRRM wanted. However if so it backfired hard. And we know that it was at least in part because of aborted Star Wars series that never happened. 🙄

I thought so too at first, but the news were that the actors were all in it. Nah, it's those two.
