Music suggestions?

Some good recommendations in this thread.

Your mentioning of liking Motown leads me to suggest the album Coming Home by Leon Bridges. It came out in 2015 but you might enjoy it.

Also, I'm not sure if you're aware, but the 80s synthpop and 90s alternative sounds are very much back in style again. There's a ton of modern releases out there that would appeal to fans of those genres.

I think I saw you mention that you look passively and there's the root of the problem. I've found a lot of new music listening to a radio station called KEXP on YouTube. They have a knack of finding upcoming talent to feature a little bit like Jools Holland does (which would be another good source ) Get your finger out and search!!
Music I've found through KEXP - Lemolo - Stella Donelly - Slowdive - Sharon Van Etten and I just found Luna but if you're into classic rock try Turin Brakes ... I think you'll like them and they have loads of albums with great melodies :rose::kiss:

Oh and I quite often listen to Velvet Moon when I write, along with Lemolo because it's mellow

I have 67 (so far) playlists comprised of artists, eras, themes, and specific years (1966-96). Most run around 2 to 3 hours. I'm sure there's something in there new to you that you would like. I would be happy to share with you. Send me a PM.

I'm bored of the music I listen to. I feel somewhat trapped by my Spotify playlists. They seem stuck in amber.

Any suggestions for something to listen to? I like most things, but I'm not really into country & western, or most of the rap that's come out over the last 10 years or so. I find contemporary Top 40 dull. I don't get Drake.

I'm trying to keep my aging mind open. I'm willing to try something different. I'm especially intrigued if there's new stuff out there that I'm just not aware of.
I did (before my headphones went kaput) have a playlist that was largely movie soundtracks, just music (songs for artwork, music for writing)

Here’s some of the stuff that’s good to work to

Arrival to Earth (transformers)
To the rescue (rocketeer)
The Dragon’s heartbeat (dragon: the Bruce Lee story)
Shawshank Redemption: stoic theme, suds on the roof, Red was here and end titles.
Highlander: Training Montage

Amongst others

I find it makes my work feel …more epic, but what the Hell do I know.

I find the thing to do is jump out into something from somewhere else. There is, for example, a splendid Mongolian metal scene that is not just The Hu. There's Hanggai (check out their song Rising Sun or The Drinking Song), and there's Tengger Cavalry, who make the Hu sound like Sonny and Cher for metal comparison.

Lithuanian folk rock and metal is a thing, and surprisingly melodic.

What about swing and electro-swing? There's a plethora of amazing groups and artists there. I love Caravan Palace and Alice Francis, both of whom are wonderful.

You'd probably have little interest in mine, but Caravan Palace, Lady Gaga, Macklemore, really anything you can dance to. Eminem, old school Dre, Outkast. I got a lot, but for the most part I don't listen to anything two days in a row.

Eh on the video. One night in bangkok, and in that night, he saw maybe one asain. Reminds me of the video for Tim McGraw's Indian Outlaw, where's the indians Tim? 3:05 and not one Native American to be seen.
It's interesting that you didn't watch the video.

I did actually, and I was referring to the origional (Official) Murry Head video, not the one you posted. I apologize if I made it seem otherwise.

Once more? Much better. I was concerned for you.
You don't need to be concerned with me. I'm always prepared to explain my position, or accept criticism, but there's no need for the condecending tone.

How do you know? Maybe, next time you'll view a video before commenting on it.
I did, and maybe next time you'll listen to what the other person has to say. What's the matter get bored trolling the older members, so now it's my turn.

No, you didn't. You weren't trolling, but you weren't looking. You must expect that sort of thing to be pointed out, regardless of your age.

1 I did look
2 I was referring to Murry Head's video
3 I failed to specify that in my origional comment
4 I corrected myself and apologized for the confusion
5 I reiterated as to which music video I was referring in a later comment.
6 don't tell me what I was or wasn't doing or whether I do or don't pay attention.
7 think whatever you want but if you continue to speak to me like this I will block you

You must be about the same age as my son. You talk like him.
