Calls for a federally administered social media platform are far from some "far out" idea. The model could be the Post Office which is enshrined in our Constitution already. The Post Office only censors illegal items. Everyone has equal access to use it. In fact the federal social media platform could be run by the Post Office.

The founding fathers specifically provided for the establishment of the post office to prevent a monopolization on communications and allow for the free exchange of ideas between the people. Its actually a fascinating history.

To the best of my knowledge every government agency has web site. And they all put out press releases. There is nothing to stop them from setting up their own 'official' accounts on the existing platforms.
