so the most followed user, Ex unimpeached President Barack Obama, is one who's lost thousands of followers as they leave twitter. repugs are celebrating an influx of their ilk. How long will some of them manage to keep their accounts is another matter:
Musk is on a mission to change the Twitter narrative. As AfroTech previously reported, during a conversation at TED2022, he spoke about having an “inclusive arena for free speech” if he were to become the owner of the app.

“I think it’s very important that we have an inclusive arena for free speech,” he said. “Twitter has sort of become a de facto Times Square. It’s really important that people have both the reality and the perception that they’re able to speak freely within the bounds of the law.

I've still got mine, but if the traitorous orange buffoon is welcomed back in then I'm out.
I don't want to hear anything the twice impeached loser has to say and unfortunately it will be plastered everywhere if that occurs.

Statistically speaking "normal people" aren't on twitter. Only 20-some percent of Americans are on Twitter. Therefore the normal thing is to not be on Twitter at all. I'm on twitter, and I'm center-left but I don't have any illusions that anything I see from anyone on twitter comes close to capturing the thoughts of the average American. It's almost entirely ideologues of either persuasion.

I never much got the appeal of Twitter. But I’m still holding out for MySpace. 🤣
I did love that whole playlist feature they had back in the day.
I didn't love that it took a half an hour to load up the page of the chick you met at the bar the night before though.

Why is Twitter so fucking difficult for some people? Sign up, set profile to private, follow who you want, block who you don't want to hear from.

The block only works if it isn't picked up by every fucking news outlet or retweeted or replied to or mentioned by those you do follow. Much like here the ignore function only goes so far.(although granted it is a much better function now than it was)

I want a hit or two off the drugs you've been investing....that's some wicked stuff.

Sorry, but this is nowhere close to actual reality. Maybe you should go look at Twitter to see how it works and who is actually saying anything.

despite no mention of twitter or musk, it seems just a little suspicious that zuckerberg saw a jump in personal wealth of some $11B as meta share prices surged with a sudden influx of users:

Shares of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, shot up more than 17% Thursday, making Zuckerberg nearly $11 billion wealthier in a single day. The stock had been up as much as 19% earlier in the day, briefly boosting Zuckerberg's fortune by $11.5 billion.

Even though Meta missed Wall Street revenue forecasts for the first quarter and posted its slowest revenue growth in years, investors were celebrating its turnaround on user numbers — a key metric for advertisers.

If the Twats on Twatter are that fragile and somehow a change in ownership of the platform affects them, (unsure how.) then good riddance!

There are over 360,000,000 people on Twitter.

According to this the number is much higher:

https://backlinko.com/twitter-users

But to answer your question, I don't know. Maybe Elon will release the number after an examination of their data. ;)
He could do a real service to America by exposing all the partisan algorithms as well as a forensic examination of hidden manipulations that Twitter employees never thought would see the light of day.

yes, from all over the world.

so in other words about 5% of all people are on twitter and about 20 percent of Americans, and that's assuming that none of the 360,000,000 people are bots which is a foolish assumption

Nobody assumed anything. The number posted is their current users, according to the link I posted. If you have a link that backs up your percentages of their current constituencies, including the percentages of bots, post it.

Tell it to your woke leftist comrades who are crying because people with opinions they don't like will also be able to tweet again.

It's called reality you woke lunatic.
