As I have said before, the modern world emerged and exists because of fossil fuels and the products and services they have created. If we stopped using them tomorrow, we'd be looking at a loss of 150 years of advancement. Society would all but collapse into chaos and death. Nuclear, solar, or wind power could not themselves have been created or distributed without technologies based on the use of fossil fuels and materials created out of fossil fuels. No group of individuals in the governments of the western world is smart enough to create and deploy a system greater or more efficient than the economic system and technologies that exist today in the west, all of which are wrought by the collective genius, of millions of innovators that have gone before and brought us to where we are today. Wind power made a huge milestone in March, as it produced more electricity than both coal and nuclear energy for the first time ever in U.S. history.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration said on March 29, wind turbines in the continental U.S. produced 2,017 gigawatt-hours of electricity, making up 19% of U.S. energy that day and only surpassed by natural gas with 31% on the same date.

Although it wasn't the largest source of electricity that day, wind power has ranked in front of coal and nuclear energy on separate occasions, but never both on the same day. Nuclear energy also produced 19% of electricity, while coal produced 17%.
