Since I've never done VR, might not have this right, but what if a married person was playing in VR and ended up having virtual sex?
The story would be focused on their uncertainty as to whether or not they had cheated and whether or not to tell their spouse

Virtual Reality* cheating...

XBoxOne: "So Dave, I hear you have a new PlayStation5. I'm hurt, what can it do that I can't..."

*a non immersive version.

Hell, in LW category, there are some readers who think that if the woman just talks to another man she's a cheating whore. Yet I would hardly categorize VR sex as cheating as what really happens is between two cartoon characters not real people.

Nothing whatsoever new here. Virtual reality is simply a modern version of that age-old matter, imagining a situation - i.e. fiction. To that extent, writing a story would be in exactly the same category. Is anyone seriously suggesting that a writer of erotic fiction is guilty of infidelity if he writes a story in the first person?

You cannot 'cheat' in real life because, as an aid to imagination, you have written something, pressed some buttons or moved a mouse.

Looks to me like the OP has fallen victim to that all-too-familiar modern illness - tech worship.

Watching VR porn is just like watching porn, except, it is immersive and a lot more intense. The immersive aspects of it are very impressive. You have to experience it to understand. However, regardless of anything else, it is just a video; it is not interactive. It may become a problem if you get addicted to VR porn and prefer it to real sex with your partner. But, I have a hard time (pun intended) seeing it as cheating.

Things get more interactive with VR cam girls, because, you are watching them live and you can chat with them. On stripchat, you can even turn on their vibrator (for a small fee, of course). They can do private shows for you catering to your particular tastes and kinks. This does cross over into a grey area, IMHO.

I would, at least sometimes.
Cheating is about breaking an agreement. You can cheat even in a polyamorous relationship.
I’d also say that cheating isn’t necessarily about sex.
And like I said, there are people who think it's cheating just talking to someone who isn't your spouse. I don't. Now my wife telling someone about what we do together I would. Yet I know girls talk about all kinds of things that would embarrass most men as she would tell me all about what her and her BFF talked about. She was always very open with me about things she talked about and did.

As for an agreement, the only one I was interested in was that one I made and she made while standing at the alter in front of our families and friends. Our wedding vows. And we both agreed not to include the faithful clause.

And here I thought I addressed your point quite eloquently. Yes, there are all different kinds of ways to cheat. Better?

VR not being one of them.

Any virtual sex is, precisely, 'virtual'... as would be any 'cheating'. The world of the imagination is just that... false. You can call into any police station you like and confess to this virtual bank riobbery you've just committed. You will be arrested, certainly, but on the grounds of wasting police time...

Shrugs. It is what it is. You may not like the facts but facts they are. Play acting can never be more than what it is - acting. Have to love your assumptions about things... play acting is of course reality, Steelpoint is of course married...

You really haven’t based it on facts, but rather how you feel about those facts. But you also don’t have a good understanding of people, so…

Anyhow, sorry for your wife
A much better one, apparently, than your grasp of what constitutes reality. Let's hope nobody ever calls you in on their side in a legal case...

As it turns out, the world, and people, don’t work like court cases. I’ll bet you were (and probably still are) one of those kids who wormed out of things because of intentional incompetence and such.
Like “you told me to take a bath, you didn’t say I had to use soap!”
Keep on making those assumptions. You're just shy of actual name calling to support your 'argument'... why don't you go the whole hog? You know you want to.

I'll just maintain my position based on those annoying and pesky old things: logic and facts. Note: NOT my 'feeling' about them, whatever that means. Come back if and when you can refute them...

It's nothing whatsoever to do with what I individually may think.

It's the facts, ma'am, nothing but the facts... to quote Joe Friday, at the risk of saying something about my age...

we seem to have wandered away from discussing story ideas...

I love to watch virtual videos, i also bought myself several headsets after that on https://bestvr*********.com/ i found the best vr porn sites and now this is what i watch every day.
