The White House is planning a new communications strategy, as President Joe Biden faces a total collapse of his approval ratings.

Citing “senior administration officials,” NBC News reported Tuesday the White House is exploring new ways to communicate directly with the American people.

Advisers expressed the need for Biden to “talk to more people directly,” instead of “one-dimensional” speeches from the White House, the report revealed, citing “his greatest political strength” as “empathy and an ability to connect with ordinary Americans.”

Biden’s approval numbers are only getting worse as he approaches the one year anniversary in office.

In what week/month do you project him getting 50% on his current trajectory?

Late June, if the trend from Jan 18 to Mar 8 continues. Not bad at all.
Lol.

Almost every President gets a bounce from his SOTU. Often it's around 5 polling points or more.

Brandon got 2.

Meanwhile, I wonder what next week's poll results are going to be now that gas here is $7/gal and still rising? (<-- not kidding or exaggerating that number.)

As of this morning, the RealClear average approval rating is 42.3, disapproval is 51.9. No significant change from the range it’s been within since last fall. If inflation goes away, gas prices drop, peace breaks out in Ukraine, the US-Mexico border situation gets under control, and urban crime evaporates, Biden’s polling numbers could get much better.

  • President Biden's job approval rating reached 47% in the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.
  • Biden saw his numbers slip post-Afghanistan, but the March numbers seemingly indicate a rebound.
  • Respondents also approved of the president's handling of the Russia-Ukraine conflict by a 52%-44% margin.
President Joe Biden's job approval rating hit 47% in a newly-released survey — a major boost for the administration as it attempts to reposition its domestic agenda and tackle the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
As more localities across the country continue to drop or modify their COVID-19 vaccine policies for indoor dining and recreation, Biden has seen his slightly negative standing on the issue — 49% disapproved in a poll last month — morph into solid support, 55% approval in the latest survey.

Level of disapproval for President Joe Biden falls below 50%

MARCH 8, 2022

The share of Americans who disapprove of Biden's presidency fell below 50% for the first time since December, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The national opinion poll, conducted March 7-8, found that 49% of U.S. adults disapproved of President Joe Biden's performance in office while 45% approved and the rest were not sure.

Biden's approval numbers have hovered below 50% since August.

At the same point in Donald Trump’s presidency, about 40% of Americans approved of his performance in office, while around 54% disapproved.

RCP average as of this morning 42.3%. The speech changed nothing. Inflation, gas prices, Ukraine, the US-Mexico border crisis, urban crime, and the President’s cognitive decline have not changed direction over the past week.

Of course RCP uses a scientifically unsound approach that simply averages a bunch of polls with no weighting or correction, and it includes a number of polls from firms with a poor track record.

Averaging polls isn’t perfect, but its a reasonable way of counterbalancing outliers. Reuters, Rassussen, YouGov, Quinnipeac, Politico and IDB/TIPP are the most recent polls in the RCP Average. Fivethirtyeight does something similar with some massaging. They have Biden at 42.7 approve, 51.4 disapprove. No matter how you slice it, aggregate public opinion polls do not look good for Brandon and the trend line hasn’t since last fall.

I don't see how you can say the trend line doesn't look good when he gained three points in a month and a half. Not unless it's coming from people who call him Brandon, anyway.
