The agenda for the Government: Control the spread of a contageous and deadly disease (which believe it or not is NOT a bad thing) and...get the frickin' goods and services moving across the country! So, you know, there are no shortages and you can actually BUY things at the store!

The agenda for the truckers: Stop working and delivering goods across the country, so when there are shortages they can just blame it all on Biden. Or something.

Although, if it's that much of a big deal to the truckers to drop the vaccine mandates, then it would seem like the government can bend, just a little, and grant them this one concession. It's all about give and take. Especially now, with cases dropping.

Serious cases requiring hospitalization are dropping. Maybe not overall cases.

The point is, the truckers don't care about getting sick themselves, or making other people sick. The government doesn't want to see people carelessly spreading illness. But they DO want to keep the economy going (or at least they SHOULD want that anyway.) So...it's a tough complicated issue, but in order to appease everyone I think the government should negotiate and be prepared to make some concessions here; drop the vaccine mandates if that is the major hang-up, and get things moving again.

Otherwise it's a case of "Lets not deliver goods to the market so we can turn around and blame it all on the government.)

You may have been able to make that argument in the first month or two of the panedmic. Now we know conclusiely that lockdowns, masking and occupancy restrictions did fuck-all for "disease containment" and it's purely about powe now.

4th March: seven day average new cases in the USA = 48,157

deaths:
Feb. 1st: seven day average in the USA = 2,867
March 4th: seven day average in the USA = 2,102

so these poor magats are having a bit of a time of things: from a slow-mo irreverent cyclist, to outbreaks of bad coughs with 'some illness, like being hit by a bus ' leading to seeking medical attention, a change of leadership where the former guy went home to spend some 'quality time' with family and didn't return, to the indignities of multiple flips of the bird as they travel around. They complain the cops aren't doing anything about their calls, poor wee things.

Finally, too many people have been giving them the finger. (“We go around the Beltway — birds are flying,” one trucker said.) Truckers claim the Maryland State Police were not answering their calls about the middle fingers, a characterization the department disputes. Brase, before he left to spend quality time with his family and never returned, encouraged the convoy to call 911 and report the rude gestures there instead.
