do you always finish the book that you're reading?

It kills me to leave a book unfinished. Sometimes I have to though and it makes me twitchy. Usually try and skim through it but I'd give it 100 pages before admitting defeat.

Nope. I have too many books and not enough time to finish books I'm not enjoying. I usually try to give the book a chance, about 50 pages or so, but I'm pretty good at knowing within the first few pages of a book if I'm going to enjoy it or not.

That's a good source which I have used in the past.

I still prefer paper books to eBooks though.

I might have already said this, but I do try to finish unless it is so bad that it becomes mental torture.

I used to read every syllable of every word on every page…However, in the last ten years or so I will give a book at least 50-100 pages to catch my interest but then able to ditch w/out going into withdrawal tremors…

Nope, I give them a pretty good go, but if they are not grabbing me (and I don't feel it is important than I read them), I give them up by around the 1/4 mark. Life is too short, and free time to read for pleasure is precious (and I don't read nearly as fast as Ogg does).

I stick with it.Persistence sometimes pays off and what started as a dud actually turns out to be pretty good.
The Hobbit though.I cant get on with it and have tried a few times but get so frustrated.

No, have several that are not completed yet but that does not mean that they will not get finished. Have put books down and left them for years before picking them up again, but the funny thing is can start reading them again and remember the story as if just read it up to that point.
