I have been steadily adding chapters to my story "Langley Circle" for a couple months now but the chapters don't seem to be linking.

my submissions can be seen here.

Anyone see what I am doing wrong?

I did send a pm to Laurel about this but it must have got missed or overlooked or something as that was weeks ago with no response.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the automated series code is wonky, and actually seems to be degenerating over time as the site infrastructure is updated.

It's on the slate to be replaced by author-directed series creation and editing in a future update. The best advice is probably just to wince and ignore it until the new tools roll out. ( Which admittedly probably won't be any time soon. It's one of the more complicated coding challenges that have been announced )

I'm going to watch this thread because I have a number of linking stories that simply sit in alphabetical order so it's impossible for a reader to know which is next in the series. When they added the series section a couple of years ago my 'Fishing' series was linked for me by the site, not in any automated way that's suggested here .

Maybe it isn't linking them because there's nothing else in your catalog to distinguish them from. Nothing would be gained that isn't already evident to the potential reader.

Other than useful links to other chapters in the story when you finish reading one chapter?the end

Your chapter titles appear to have two levels of numbering: "S01 Ch. 03" etc.

I'm not certain whether the chapter linking script will recognise "S01" as part numbering, but if it does that will likely create problems. From what I've seen previously, the script can't handle two-level numbering and will produce weird errors. Not sure if this is the cause of the problem but it might be.

That's a good point - scripts get confused easily. When Laurel linked mine it ended up A Fishing Trip, But I'm The Bait Ch. 01 then title plus Ch. 02 etc. If the title is the problem you may have to write and ask for Laurel to edit them for you. Given the management have clearly been focused on the latest upgrade, your request may have been overlooked.

Interesting note: I cut n pasted the above title and the script included the link automatically... which is nice :D

But if you type in a link like Literotica.com it doesn't

Yessir, I'm looking forward to that. My second series is all over my author page because (rookie mistake) I merely requested the stories be linked as a series and they have only "The Attic" in common in the titles.

I'm also having the same issue with my VY multi-chapter submissions. Laurel or another approver supposedly modified the first submission title to make sure it linked properly, but it still failed.
