Over 1600 anti-war protesters arrested in Russia, about half of them in Moscow, but the illegal protests are rather widespread although not real large, some probably even in thousands.

Police, omon, arresting without much discrediting, grabbing people just hanging out nearly, including at least three TV correspondents.

As I was saying, there's little evidence the Russian people are clamoring for this war. But until the unrest starts impacting the military, it's not likely to have an effect.

Apparently many lay-Russians are apalled and angry with Putin.

It's not just that the 'attacking your neighbor' thing.
Russian families are literally struggling to feed their kids, they don't need to pay for war too.
Currently, Russians are in the bottom two? (I think) of Eastern Europe wage-wise.

omg, I just re-read your post.

That bad... There are protests and Russian powerholders are now ARRESTING their own people.

How come Western outlets don't say much about the arrests?

Sounds like a ripe situation for a Communist comeback.

The gop/ trumptards are full of putin fanboys, they admire him and want to please him. Putin would beat trump in an election.:)

Ah, one almost has to admire the port side's ability to pivot on a dime, no? Ten years ago Mitt Romney was mocked for saying Russia was our top security threat, with The Lightbringer sneeing that "The 1980s called...they want their foreign policy back." Trained seals like Pedo-phil lauhed and clapped on cue.

Now look at them. The Party says clap, you clap. The Party says Vlad is Emmanuel Goldstein, you drag him out for a Two-Minutes Hate.

You're a good little drone, Phil.

Don't know about that, but If Trump endorsed him, he's probably beat any Democrat that ran against him (in a primary, anyway. Or in fucking Idaho, where even John Wayne Gacy would win a general election if he ran as a Republican.)

Read Renard Ruse's thread above where he basically outed himself as a Putin/Russian-paid forum troll. It's interesting; I've long suspected as much, but he basically all but admitted it.

Retard Rube outed himself as a pro russian douche years ago. Putin is more popular than Biden with trumptards.

They have. You're just making this up without actually watching the news, aren't you?
I just saw it.

Omg the so many people in Saint Petersburg.

Those people are heroes.
They Know the risks, all the people that Putin disappeared or suicided. Yet they still went out to protest.

I keep telling people over here, who don't like Russians: don't judge a book by it's cover.
Their government is terrible, but Russian laypeople are good people and passionate people.

Your teachers used to tell you that you're 'special', didn't they?

Putin has done everything he can, with startling success, to neutralize any opposition from his own people--just like Donald Trump and the Republicans in the United States, with the help of Vladimir Putin, are trying to do now in their ongoing coup attempt. Aided also by the board Trumpettes.

Direct quote from (possibly one of many) Russian troll farm poster on this board: "I'm sympathetic to Russia and have generally supported President Putin over the years..."

That accusation of Renard being a Russian troll/puppet is pretty spot on, in my opinion.

I wonder how long those 150 senior Russian officials who publicly opposed Putin's invasion will last.

He's pro-Russian definitely, but only in the way many on the Right are.
Paid? lol no.

I used to like Putin too, and to find him funny.
But after the invasion?
I'm looking back and thinking "gosh, all the anti-Russia people were so right."

So that's what you think will happen?
Putin to reinstate his puppet (either directly or through doctored elections) -- like the US does in South America, and then retrieve?
Sounds to me like a much more plausible scenario than Russia annexing Ukraine.

Like lambs to slaughter. (Ukrainians). The helplessness.
THAT's what shocked me about all this, I finally figured it out.

Zelensky is now barring men of fighting age from leaving the country.
Imagine being a mother in Ukraine.
Lucky those who were quick enough to seek asylum in neighboring countries.

Gosh LupusDei, you were right from the start on every point.
I never thought Putin intended to invade, I thought it was a scare tactic to stop NATO's posturing on his doorstep. And I thought you were right but a tad paranoid about Russia.
