Since you asked for "opinions".
My opinion— I generally do not like 3D modeled characters, as they often look too plastic.

To get a believable figure requires very good software, hardware and a good understanding of light, anatomy and physics...
I suggest looking at actual photos of the body types you enjoy and want to depict. Which is not an odious task, eh? And apply what you see — obviously, you can pick and choose (artistic license) for the sake of fantasy.

Oh, I absolutely agree they look too much like barbie dolls. I definitely do not possess anywhere near the talent to recreate life-like skin textures on 3D models. Maybe if I went to game design school, but I went computer forensics route. For my latest 3D model, I actually recreated my wife based on my perception of her and photos I have of her. I'm using a software package called MakeHuman to do the 3D modeling and a lot of community provided assets to modify the models more precisely. As you say, a good understanding of light, anatomy and physics is key.

I'm thinking of using the models to generate black and white, or grayscale images for use in the chapter headings. I'm also communicating with an artist writing a story on Literotica to create a few chapter headings, will see what gets the best results.

Thanks for the feedback THROBBS.

I wouldn't claim to be the "artist type". My 3rd grade art teacher gave me an F. LOL! As for the latest craze with NFT's and artwork, I think it's more of a fad that is going to be more niche for at least the next 30+ years. This coming from my experience in the world of Information Technology.

I want to ask you 'artist types' on here about erotic NFTs, if there is such a thing? I have an interest in NFT's from the financial side of things related to artwork as both of my adult children are artists of paintings and sculptures(son). I've encouraged both of them to turn some of their recent art into NFT's as a potential income supplement.
Have either of you looked into creating NFTs with your artwork? TIA
Of course there "is" such a thing. Heck it might even be perfect timing. As erotic NFT might have that "edgy" hook to garner the attention ($)

I only have the slightest interest, in that there is a slim possibility that I could make a bunch of money off of it.
On the other hand — not very likely. It (monetary success with NFT) seems to have more to do with marketing/hype than quality. Which, of course has always been true in the physical art world.

The biggest down side (for me) is the environmental issues — (use of electrical power, global warming...etc... which seems ludicrous intuitively)
"Individual pieces of crypto art, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), are at least partially responsible for the millions of tons of planet-heating carbon dioxide emissions generated by the cryptocurrencies used to buy and sell them."- https://www.theverge.com/2021/3/15/22328203/nft-cryptoart-ethereum-blockchain-climate-change

The other downside (for me) is that it just feels like a scam. There's a sleazy "get rich quick" aspect to it.

This could be a whole thread on its own.

Still haven't been able to figure out a simple way of changing color, tone, highlights or reflectivity of hair. Did finally get the braided hair not to clip into the back this time though.

Here's where knowledge combined with software/hardware come into play.
If the software (and hardware) that you are using are not powerful enough, another route, is OTHER software.
For example, taking the image OUT of "MakeHuman" and into a pixel base program like Photoshop (there are other applications available, which are cheaper)... and then, using your knowledge of light, anatomy etc... draw/paint the nuances you desire.

Oh, the hardware really isn't an issue for me. I'm running a gaming laptop, so at worst some of the more complex skin textures may take a few seconds to render. I'm useless when it comes to Photoshop, but I do have Corel Paint Shop Pro X5. But still, my art eye is far too technical for me to grasp nuances involved in skin texture. Same reason I'm having so much trouble creating cover art requiring a tree. "Does not compute"

A suggestion - When you visit the website, start at the top pull down menu and go to: "community - gallery". It will give you quick access to thousands of images created by users.

Good luck!

Glad you were able to check it out. I think you need to work on lighting, skin textures, etc. But it's a start.

Regarding genitalia, check out http://www.renderotica.com You'll find all the "extra parts" and much more there.

Good luck with it!
Yeah, I found that site and took a look. Sadly, I've been basically broke past 2 years while I'm disabled off work, so I'm gonna have to find another way around that issue lol. But thanks for pointing me in this direction as it does seem to be helping.
