In the midterms, what is the GOP going to run on?

Gun Rights will be a part of it.

8 million guns sold in 2020, with 5 million first time gun owners, some 56% were female, and 30% African American.

The Dems are getting kicked in the rump all over the country on guns, so it will be part of the push.

Those people could buy guns. They don't feel their rights are infringed in that regard, so gun rights won't be an electoral issue.

Nobody who was not going to vote Pub anyway cares about border control. As for inflation, you can't have economic recovery without it. As for energy, whaddaya got?

All of these will be campaign issues. If you think these are unimportant to voters, or that Dems are going to retain control of Congress you’re in for a shock this fall.

We have a low jobless rate. That's the measure of economic recovery voters care about.

I hope you realize that low jobless rate is strictly a measure of the number of unemployment insurance claims outstanding. It has absolutely nothing to do with number of people not employed. For that you would require an accurate census count (which you'll never get thanks to illegal immigrants) and a flat, unchanging number of jobs during the month or year period you are measuring.

The Democrats are going to get their hiney kicked in the midterm and they know it.

They got the socialism they wanted, and it was found out in a years time, it does not work.

What makes you think the Census Bureau can't count those?

Because the Census Bureau can't count, that's why. Just like the IRS can't do math. That's why there is hundreds of millions of dollars of fraudulent refunds sent out every year, many for people who have been on the death rolls for decades.

With it being a mid-term election there is no need for a "single platform". Rather, each Representive and Senate race will be picking their own platforms, based on the state GOP parties and in coordination with the national party.

They'll pick the message that resonates with their particular base and obviously they think will be "the winning message".

The majority of representatives and senators won't be running anything wildly radical - unless they think that's what will win in their state.

Here are the general threads they'll pick from, from the wonky to the hot button issues. These are the usual "bundle of arrows" the GOP picks from and they're relative unchanged. The numerical order below is nominal.

1. Pro-Life (and in a few place, "hands off choice" or maybe even "pro-choice".
2. Pro-Second Amendment (always a winner with the GOP, moderated in some places, emphasized in others)
3. Anti-Tax or Lower Taxes (a perennial favorite)
4. Pro-Fiscal Responsibility/Anti-Deficit/Debt
5. Pro-Business, especially Small Business
6. School Choice (and now, super-heated into "pro-parental control" education
7. Pro "Election Security"
8. Pro-Capitalism as an economic structure
9. Pro-Religious Liberty

Then, with the current political situations, expect them to punch at the hot button issues with the current environment

1. "Dem's Suck At International Affairs" (e.g. Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine, China)
2. Inflation (the death knell of any parties control) and local Economic Issues (e.g. "rising cost of farm gas", "rising cost of groceries").
3. COVID related issues (the "Dems" forced the lockdown, mandatory vaccination and mask mandates as bellweathers of personal freedom.
4. Crime Bad, Cops Good
5. Good old fashioned bare knuckle "Let's Go Brandon" and "Pelosi is Satan" stuff, where they think it will resonate
6. Anti-Cancel Cancel Culture, Anti-Work Nonsense (where it will resonate).

In the mid-terms, it's not a single election, nor a single approach, to campaigning. It's all tailored to the local environment. The RNC will have some issue adds that play across all environments.

A set of mistakes that the DNC has made over the last couple of cycles will come into play as well and that is the insistence on "one message", which hurts the moderates and close races by not giving them leeway to "play to the voters" on a local level with risking being savaged by their own party.

This woman on the view says it all. "Why do you laugh at me buying a gun." "I feel empowered". She is not alone. Burying your head in the sand will not change how things are. American people cannot defund the police and call the police when they need a gun to stop crime. Even Democrats cannot change that.

What on Earth are you talking about? The Democrats don't want socialism -- that would piss off their corporate donors -- and nothing enacted since 1/21 constitutes socialism in any form.

Then why do they promote it at every turn for everyone but their corporate donors??

Why can't they just stop regulating to regulate for the sake of regulating....but only for the 'little' people???

The DNC summed up.......

In "progressive" California... mask mandates are for poor people only.

I just hope it doesn't sink to the level it did in 2018, when I saw one Pub candidate posing in front of a pump draining a swamp. I think he was holding a rifle, too.

Oh, it will, at some level in some of the races, it'll verge on the ridiculous (from all sides).

Mask mandates have nothing to do with socialism. Nothing at all. And neither do regulations in general.
