I think the problem is that you are still treating these people as if they have any shame and as if they play by the same rules they impose on you. They don't.

Really, human beings are not good at discussing contentious topics. We are not good at talking about things we disagree on. We will lie and cherry pick data and call each other names - we minimize and conflate and make assumptions of motive... generally, we suck at communicating.

The only way to avoid these pitfalls of human communication is to find your principles and apply them to EVERYTHING. When things do not fit your principles, you note it.

Many of the Progressives on this board do not have principles, so your legitimate shame washes cleanly off of their backs. They will defend racism or sexism or homophobia or transphobia or hatred or violence or anything else they claim to be against if it is their side doing it. Biden raped an intern? She was asking for it. They will leap up and betray everything they say they believe in a heartbeat to defend their tribe.

By all means, continue, but don't ever expect them to recognize your points, because their only principle is: "our side is always right".
