Manchin endorses Murkowski

They're both moderates and both fighting the extremists of their party. Not a huge stretch. Murkowski endorsed Manchin as well.

In related news, Manchin also made clear yesterday what most of us already know: The Biden agenda is dead, dead, dead. Any legislation that might attempt to resurrect parts of BBB must go through the full bipartisan committee process. No shortcuts or gimmicks. Hearings, markups, the full works. With 274 days before an election. Biden knows it’s over. Do his followers??

In the GOP Murkowski is a weak sister and needs to be replaced.

Agree. That said, when the most powerful Democrat in the Senate, and arguably the entire country, crosses party lines and endorses a Republican, it is an ominous sign for lefties.

Agreed, but I'm hoping she'll be primaried by a more conservative candidate.

It's very clear that the right wants it dead. Unfortunately, the individual items are popular with the left and therefore aren't dead...be ause they'll be brought up again..maybe individually or maybe part of a larger package.

I mean fuck...didn't you righties learn something with your push to end abortion? If people are passionate about something, it will continue to be pushed.

Good luck getting universal pre-K, childcare, corporate tax hikes, “climate change investments” or prescription drug pricing legislation passed this year. There are divisions even among Democrats on each of these standalone items, and Manchin made clear yesterday that nothing happens without full committee process.

There’s an election in 274 days. Which of these do you think will pass this year, and when do you anticipate them coming to the floor of each chamber for a vote?

Left, right or moderate doesn't matter to me. I want politicians who work for the poor, the growing majority of the nation, but I would give bonus points if they can do that while smacking both parties simultaneously.

In that case, what you want, despite your professed indifference, is a party of the left -- i.e., to the left of the Democrats. Nobody else is going to work for the poor.

The increase in the "poor" are those Joe Biden is allowing to illegally enter the country. The majority of Americans are not poor. Illegals take the jobs of poorer American citizens. The "poor" are not the primary constituency of the government. When the country was founded the vast majority of Americans were poor by today's standards, they knew they had to work or die. We need to recapture our work ethic and not encourage people to sit on their asses sucking off the productivity of others. There is dignity and worth in all work. There is none in sloth and or self-imposed dependency.

That's how the party has worked for quite some time. Divisions of priorities happen when you actually have a party who develops policies. It might be easier to just defer to the leader, but we're a little less autocratic than that.

I am sure some will come to a vote and some won't until the next time Dem's take over.

And have not most societies throughout history afforded the greatest dignity to a nonworking elite?

Not really. It's been for the most part imposed upon them by reality, but for the first time in the recorded history of Man, our Constitution provides to all a clear path to as high a level of comfort as is within their desire and expended effort.

The interesting part is that you think that the BBB provisions don't advantage you personally.

 Let us hear no more of American exceptionalism.
