RNC approves censure vote of Reps. Cheney, Kinzinger
The lawmakers were censured for their involvement with the House investigation into January 6

By Sophie Mann

The Republican National Committee on Friday voted in favor of formally censuring party Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their participation in the Democrat-led House committee's investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The vote reportedly passed overwhelmingly at the RNC's annual winter meeting, this year in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The resolution on Thursday cleared an RNC committee. RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel reportedly worked with Trump ally David Bossie to draw up the resolution.

"We've had two members engage in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse," McDaniel said about the censure. "This has gone beyond their original intent. They are not sticking up for hard-working Republicans."

The censure vote is the strongest and most public effort thus far to punish the Cheney, of Wyoming, and Kingziner of Illinois, each vocal critics of former President Trump.

"Investigation of the attack on the Capitol and obstruction of Constitutional duties" sounds worse than "legitimate political discourse", I guess.

You're going to alienate the part of your base that has objective reality.

Oh, but no censure of the people ultimately responsible for the deaths of Capitol police. Figures.

No Capitol cops were killed. If so they'd be facing a lot more than a censure. One man got 4 years in federal prison for looking funny.

The vote was "overwhelming" so you can't characterize their actions as objective reality in the minds of Republicans writ large. The Pelosi hearing is an unconstitutional abuse of power.

Not even you believe that. How could something like 1/6 happen and not be investigated by Congress? Even a Pub-controlled Congress would be obliged by public pressure to create such a committee.

Nobody went to prison for looking funny. I just checked. Your disconnect from reality is noted.

It deserves to be looked at by a bipartisan group, not one that is staffed with Pelosi's attack dogs and GOP lapdogs. The quivering old puddle of Botox is terrified someone's going to ask a real question, so anyone so disposed was kept off.

The only surprise is that Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot despite seeing the writing on the wall.

Absolutely no one cares. What they care about is crime, inflation and whether Joey Soft-Serve is going to march us into a shooting war with Russia.

No such thing has been possible since the 1990s, and that ain't the Dems' fault.

This is Pelosi's doing, all of it. She doesn't pick the GOP's participats, the Minority Leader does. She broke te deal, broke the committee's charter rules and then put a couple of Trump-hating RINOs on the team as a fig leaf.

This kangaroo court deserves no respect or obedience.

Illusions of gandeur!

Serves'em right.

THis half-brained dumbo does not even bother to post in a considerate manner.
I mean without blowing up the width of his post here. Goes to illustrate how rotten
inconsiderate to the core people are who still feel allegiance to Trump.

Wrong. It was McCarthy who refused to cooperate when Pelosi objected to two of his five nominees. She gave him a fair opportunity to name two replacements, but he opted to take his marbles and go home.

Which, from a crassly political point of view, was probably the best thing the Republicans could have done as far as playing to their base was concerned. Nothing we will ever learn from this committee will be good for them at all, regardless of the makeup of the committee.

The RNC's move is fundamentally stupid.

I do not agree with her politics too often, but she can be dangerous, especially if the RNC dopes insist on backing her into a corner.

Yes, they voted overwhelmingly to support a man who wants to ignore and reject the electorate to stroke his own ego. That is the objective reality of their idiocy

And a large portion of their base rejects that position.

Two politicians who overwhelmingly support the party policies lock step.
