All these photos of Nazi Germany were aimed at a very specific group of people. The Jews. Though they weren't the only group of people who were caught up in the net. The average German didn't need to be a whole lot of a tizzy.

If you want something equivalent that nearly happened in the United States one need look no farther than Arizona SB1070 which is linked here. Not to some liberal rag you can dismiss but the actual law that was being pushed. It stated that during any lawful stop where there is reason to believe some one is an illegal immigrant law enforcement can do a check.

Here's the snag, what constitutes reason to believe an individual is illegal? If I'm not driving or going to drink I don't have my wallet or ID on me. There is no reason for me to. Besides being black we all know Arizona isn't looking at me.

The law doesn't even state what qualifies as picture ID. Which sounds stupid but many places don't accept out of state IDs for honestly good reason. I've had jobs where I had to check IDs. Some IDs (Arizona comes to mind) last for a very, long time. Their's last until age 65 with a new photo needed every 12. They don't have any standard format. I'm certain some underage kid fooled me with their Fake Montana ID.

Military IDs are not accepted as ID for many, many purposes such as Car Rentals, Hotel bookings, check writing (not that we do that a lot these days) so that might not cut it.

That is a lot closer to what was happening in Germany. Papers needed? CHECK. Could randomly happen? Check. After all a 'lawful' stop could be whatever an officer says it is. Attacks a specific group of people? Well don't take my word for it.

This was specifically about illegal immigration. Well also attacking Obama but still.

Asking for Vax cards to eat at certain restaurants is much, much closer to asking ID for people who want to drink than anything in Germany.

Edit: The Left mostly pointed out the racism that was at the heart of this. Up to an including the then governor Jan Brewer putting her finger up in the face of the then president Barrack Obama in a show of unfathomable disrespect. Please we had 8 years of Bush and 4 of Trump I'm sure there is a whatabout someone can dig up of someone on the Left doing the same. I'll admit I have a life and don't spend all day and all night perusing every news sourse or more likely being fed information.

Asking for Vax cards in the cases that are happening right now are no different from requiring them for car rentals, or buying drinks.
