Another midterm worry for Biden White House: probes and impeachment attempts
By Jeff Mason and Jarrett Renshaw

WASHINGTON, Jan 17 (Reuters) - The U.S. midterm elections are some 10 months away, but President Joe Biden's administration and allies already foresee a possible scenario in which Republicans take the House of Representatives, the Senate, or both, and launch a series of investigations and attempts to impeach the president.

Lawmakers, congressional staffers and strategists predict a slew of investigations targeting the Biden administration, particularly if Republicans loyal to former President Donald Trump gain important committee seats in Congress.

Those seeking to pursue investigations include House Republicans Matt Gaetz, who pledged in a podcast to target the Department of Justice until "sphincters tighten," Bob Gibbs, who has been pushing to impeach Biden since September over the Afghanistan pullout, and James Comer, a hopeful to become head of the House Oversight Committee.

Comer's targets include the president's son Hunter Biden, the administration's handling of supply chain issues and vaccine mandates, and its removal of Trump military academy appointees, his office said.

The White House has already taken small steps that will help shield the administration from aggressive probes.

Nonsense. Impeachment is meaningless without a Senate conviction. And as we’ve seen with the Clinton and Trump impeachments, they don’t even change public opinion of a president. Biden has plenty of things to worry about such as inflation, mishandling of Covid, and his tragic cognitive deterioration, but impeachment is not on the list.

Assuming that the R's take the House and Senate, this has 3 possibilities.

1. The R's will do nothing because they have a history of all talk, no action.

2. 50/50 on whether they'll write articles of impeachment after an extended investigation into Brandon and his dealings as "the big guy."

3. Impeachment and removal in the Senate. Which stokes the fire for a D rebound in 2028.

My current belief (subject to change without notice) is that the current talk of impeachment is political BS designed to get out the vote and that after the election, possibility #1 above is a certainty.

The Republicans simply don't have the balls or the inclination to do the right thing.

They let Hillary off the hook and Hunter will go scot-free too...

Two "nonsense" impeachments were used to destroy the Trump administration. At the very least Biden's radical administration needs to be completely tied up with congressional investigations into Joe's failure to see that the laws faithfully executed and his covert actions into his human trafficking of illegal aliens and terrorists into red states.

I already said they won't do it and would hope that they would
focus on policy and mitigation of the damage done by this Congress.

Read Schlichter yet this morning?

I think their time would be best spent of repopulating the 1/6 committee
and focus on the subsequent crimes of the FBI, Capitol Police
and people like AOC making false claim of being in danger.

Won't matter. You're not getting 67 Senators to convict.

Oh, I know it. It's the White House and the Democrats who are worried according to Reuters.

Not having 67 Senators didn't stop the Democrats from destroying the Trump administration with two groundless impeachments. Biden has to be stopped, no better way than keeping him tied up with congressional hearings and public exposure, and in Biden's case, he has actually violated federal statutes and the Constitution.

I don't think you want to stress him out, get him 25th and end up with a President Harris...

I think Biden is exposed for his non-feasance at the southwest border. He's clearly aiding and abetting criminal activity there for the betterment ofthe Democrat Party.

That said, I am against abusive use of the impeachment process, and both Trump impeachmets were farces that will haunt the Dems for decades.

I agree, but what goes around comes around and we can jump rope and chew gum at the same time. The Pino and his radical administrations need to be attacked politically from all sides before they destroy the country.

If he's breaking the law, and he is, the impeachment process is a duty of Congress.

You and I can, but the Republicans simply cannot!

They let Hillary off because several rounds of investigations and hearings came up dry.

Trump lost :)

I'm sure he still would have, if he had not been impeached. Impeachment clearly did not turn the MAGAts against him, they're still here proclaiming his innocence of the charges -- how much effect could it have had on the swing voters?

No, two impeachments did not “destroy” the Trump Administration. The first had zero impact on his tenure, agenda, or his public opinion ratings and the second happened after lost the election.
