Army Special Forces candidates will train in a “realistic” guerrilla war to be fought in rural North Carolina and South Carolina counties later this month, according to the service.

Known as the Robin Sage training exercise, the two-week “unconventional warfare” drill is the final test of candidates’ Special Forces Qualification Course training.

The drill will take place Jan. 22 to Feb. 4 on privately owned land across 25 counties in North Carolina and three counties in South Carolina, the U.S. Army's John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School said in a news release.

The Army did not provide the exact times and locations of the exercises, which will include the candidates fighting against “realistic opposing forces and guerrilla freedom fighters” in a fictional, unstable country known as Pineland.

Camp Mackell is the center for the US Armies SOF training (their primary training) - it straddles the border of NC and SC. "Robin Sage" is held there as part of each graduating class. It's their "final exam". Besides on the usual exercises that take place on the base, there are exercises that take place on private land with contractors (and locals) playing the indigenous population - so you'll do things like travel overland covertly to link up with indigenous forces, blend in with indigenous populations, recon suspected locations, snatch high value targets, etc. All the usual stuff the green berets and army SOF forces do.

Nothing special about it, it happens every time they have a graduating class. They notify the press because it can be a bit of a surprise to be out feeding your chickens and stumble on a barn full of sleeping soldiers. They also have notification and call numbers that are provided to local law enforcement and local newspapers, where people can call if they have questions about anything they see or hear.

Depending on the base these type of exercises happen all over the US all the time. The locals know about them and just shrug them off (or come out to watch, especially if it's something cool like a massed helicopter assault). They're always grounds for this conspiracy theory or that.

Yeah, the only extraordinary thing about it is that they may be training to fight a domestic enemy this time around.

"Pineland" is a little too on the nose for a mock training exercise when rural "Americans" are ACTUALLY bent on destroying the United States government.

People(an enemy) from "the sticks" could easily be referred to as people(an enemy) from ""Pineland".

Hmmmmmm........

At least the nominal enemy is not Dumbfuckistan.

Personally, I think it's a cover for the ongoing operations to repel the Martian Invasion! They're watching us....

It's the democrat deep state preparing to round up trump supporters and put them in re-education camps where they will get their 1st chance at an education.

I remember that Mars probe that failed because of some miscalculation between metric and English units. Likely story!

"What's the matter, General? They've sent these things before."

"But this one is about to get pictures of the invasion fleet! Blast it!"
