The Poop Sez Religious Exemptions Are .....

Good for him. Now we need other religious leaders to say the same.

Given its history (the Galileo trial, etc.), it really is interesting how accommodating the RCC has become to science and modernity. No Catholic priest ever preaches young-Earth creationism or intelligent-design theory, or warns of the End Times any day now -- all that bullshit is left to the supposedly modern and freethinking Protestants.

maaping the lunar landscape

It was Vatican astronomers who mapped out the many craters and geographic features of the Moon. The Church did a grave injustice to Galileo but they have embraced science

Does the RCC still hold to the philosophy of St. Thomas Aquinas as official doctrine?

I read in Bertrand Russell's A History of Western Philosophy that in every Catholic university's philosophy department, Aquinas' philosophy had to be taught as "the only right one" -- but, that was published in 1945, before the Second Vatican Council.

Indeed, there have been many Jesuit scientists.

What percentage of people vaccinated for polio and measles still end up getting those diseases? Asking for a friend......

if that's the philosophy about molesting altar boys, yep! still good.

dunno, but i can say with 100% certainty that my eldest had measles as a baby, was vaccinated anyway a month later, then had another case of it identical to the first a month after that. It's to do with how a body reacts and builds its defenses... he obviously didn't build a strong enough immune response till the second episode. Kind of runs in my family. I had chicken pox 4 times as a kid, a year apart.

as for measles, here:

https://www.healthline.com/health-n...asles-heres-why-you-should-still-get-the-shot
One dose of the MMR vaccine provides 93 percent protection against the virus, while two doses provide 97 percent protection.

This means that if 1,000 people who received both doses are exposed to the virus, about 30 of them will catch the disease.

If another 50 unvaccinated people are exposed, approximately 45 of them will contract the disease, bringing the total outbreak count to about 75. So while 90 percent of the unvaccinated population contracted the disease just 3 percent of the vaccinated population are infected.

While these odds may seem daunting, without the vaccine, millions of people would contract the measles every year and there would be many more hospitalizations and deaths.

“Measles is not a mild illness — it is a serious condition that can cause complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis [brain swelling], resulting in the potential for long-term disability and even death,” Dr. Edward Chapnick, the director of infectious diseases at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, told Healthline.

Despite the fact that the measles is so contagious, the virus can be prevented and controlled via vaccination, he added.

For one, even if you do contract the measles after being vaccinated, your symptoms will be milder and they will clear up much quicker.

Secondly, fully vaccinated people are much less likely to spread the disease to others, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The best defense against contagious disease is herd immunity -- which depends on a vast majority of the population being vaccinated (assuming the availability). In that environment, even the unvaccinated are more or less safe.

The Covid vaccines have to be one of the least effective vaccines ever. And yet so many sheep keep pushing them on society......

They help. They make it less likely you'll get covid, and more likely that, if you do, you'll survive without permanent damage.
