That's been me, for the last few months.

2020 hit me too, but I was still focused & looking forward & had that freshness about learning & my intellectual life.
Whereas now? I'm no longer in hardship but I feel angry, old and jaded. And hopeless about our political future, be it EE, Au,US or whatever .

How have you guys been feeling?

Enjoying living every day as if it were my last - which it could be. I'm old but still writing stories and extending my knowledge, often of just how how stupid some people can be. (Not all of them on Lit).

dammit! i thought this thread was dedicated to me!

you describe me and about 90% of the rest of the posters on this board.

Good on you, ogg.
What you went through - one wouldn't wish upon their worst office enemies. But you seem to have emerged with a younger spirit and valuing your life.

I'm the opposite. No longer in financial hardship, healthy too, but the 'me' now feels so middle-aged/old and jaded compared to the fresh-spiritted, curious and intellectually excited me from 2-3 years ago.

:)
but it IS a reality for me. I've changed over the last few months, suddenly I feel old, dejected, jaded and angry, and no longer intellectually denying my age.
--I'm obviously hinting to the daily grind of the secondary aspects of the Pandemic, I wonder if they had a similar impact on you guys.

everyone has pandemic burnout, not just you. it's making people more aware of all sorts of unpleasant truths. i felt old, jaded and angry when i was still young so it hasn't changed much for me. except my darling dr. introduced me to prozac.

This is the politics board.

And spreading misinformation!

Yes, it's the pandemic burnout + the continuing status quo.

When Snowden & Assange & even 2008 or 9/11 happened,
the news were of course awful
but it was also the excitement of learning how things really are, things that used to be obfuscated from the Public.
For me it was an exciting, rejuvenating and empowering journey.

Whereas now?
We all (as in people all over the world) know by now how this global system works, people are frustrated
yet the status quo continues.
Any attempt at challenging the status quo feels like intellectual masturbation instead of being intellectual.

You made me think of Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar...

A jaded mandarin,
A jaded mandarin,
As a jaded, jaded, faded, jaded, jaded mandarin.
