Primaries start in March, so Joe is probably fucked on Build Back Broke. Unless they can kill the Filibuster and turn the Senate into the House:

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s $1.8 trillion spending offer he proposed to the White House in late 2021 appears to be no longer on the table following a breakdown between the Democratic lawmaker from West Virginia and the White House, the Washington Post reported on Saturday.

Manchin told reporters this week that he is no longer involved in discussions with the White House and has signaled privately that he is not interested in approving any legislation like President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Package, the newspaper said, citing three people with knowledge of the matter.

Manchin’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The legislation is one of Biden’s signature domestic priorities. Manchin’s vote is critical in the evenly divided Senate. His opposition torpedoed Build Back Better in December, drawing ire from Democratic progressives and sending the political party scrambling to find a way to resurrect the package.

The plan includes funding for high-priority issues for many Americans, including free preschool, support for soaring childcare costs, coverage of home-care costs for the elderly and expansion of free school meals.

Manchin has spoken with a raft of officials and others seeking to garner his support for the legislation, including senior White House aide Steve Ricchetti, Larry Kudlow, former economic adviser to ex-president Donald Trump, and Republican Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, according to the Washington Post.

Until he puts it back on the table.

Maybe you should just realize that he's a Democrat and will pass stuff you don't want.

The progressive faithful are in denial.

This is about the 20th post about something Machine has rejected...and it's always the "final blow"

You think that I would only be satisfied with the entire package....anything in that package is better than anything the previous administration did, imo.

And unlike Republicans who only support "pwning the libs", I'm supportive of the policies...not the whining it invokes when it's passed.

Your wish came true months ago. They never had the votes.

And yet you all seem to believe the final death blow comes with every news cycle.

You did victory laps in March before anything even started....how was that infrastructure bill?

The infrastructure bill was never in doubt. BBB was never in sight. And yes, I’ve done many victory dances.

A d yet they're still passing good legislation you oppose. I guess we all get what we want.

I’m not sure which legislation you’re referring too. I opposed the last Covid package. It’s also true that I would have preferred to have seen the infrastructure bill shaped differently. I’m not crazy about subsidies to ISPs and Amtrak, but there are many useful things in the bill and you won’t find any posts from me whining about it. And I’m not opposed to infrastructure spending that makes sense. I’m good with the investments in highways, bridges, airports, dams, etc. BBB was a grab bag of social spending, including some new and permanent entitlements, seasoned with “green” spending and taxes.
