I think it also depends on the press one read.
Back home, most people believe that Diana was murdered.
Arguments for:
--the fact that CCTV videos mysteriously malfunctioned on that particular day,
--that her car's seat belt wasn't working on that particular day, Diana being religious about using car seat belts, according to her sister
--that they allowed traffic to resume & clean up the tunnel the next day, when any other case (nevermind a high profile one) would have led to a cordon de sécurité for at least one day
--and not in the least,
the witnesses who saw a white flashing strobe light, consistent with (according to a former MI6 agent), method used to disorientate drivers as means of vehicular assassination.

no, it's not just about Royals/MI5&.
Most Intel agencies out there have engaged in murders or dirty set-ups.
That's how States survive attacks or sabotage or stay in the global competition; it's dirty business.
And Diana WAS posing a risk of destabilizing the Monarchy, thus (as they saw it) Britain. (It's eye-rolling to me that people are trying to brush off Diana's late fears for her life, as merely her mental illness or paranoia.)
It's also amazing how some refuse to even consider valid questions , if they would cast a shadow on their preferred party.
Just like with Epstein. Dems. are quick to say:
CIA? No, they're White as snow, and you're a conspiracist case closed.
CIA would never ask Acosta to burry the Epstein case or tons of FBI evidence, nor would they allow his shenanigans to continue after 2006: "they just naiively didn't know they were happening, nor that minors were boarding that plane".
