What a difference a day makes.

Fossil(fuel) Senator Joe Manchin managed to insult and degrade ALL poor and working class Americans (insinuating they're lazy drug users), while at the same time angering the West Virginia coal miners union that supports President Biden's progressive Build Back Better Framework because it provides a path to the future for West Virginians as coal is supplanted by other cleaner, cheaper, alternative energy sources.

I guess "let's go Brandon" will soon be chanted in honor of Joe Manchin.

Hell, "Let's go Brandon" even sounds more like "Fuck Joe Manchin.

*nods* and *chuckles*

No one in WV wanted this bill, no matter how many delusional posts you dunces make about it. Manchin will be reelected in a walk there.

And you speak for those W. Virginians?

There is a whole lot of poor folks in W. Virgina.

Trump did nothing for them inspite of making promises to provide jobs...where are those jobs?

I'd rather here from them and I bet they are not as foolish as your statement makes you out to be I doubt they are happy about starving to death due to no jobs.

Nearly three-fourths (74%) of West Virginia voters also agree Senator Joe Manchin should oppose President Biden’s multi-trillion dollar reconciliation spending bill in favor of legislation that would control spending more while 24% disagree with Senator Manchin’s opposition.

Manchin is doing what representatives are supposed to do: Their constituents' bidding.

I agree 100%....he isn't surprising anyone....the shock of Dems and the Whitehouse is absurd. It is pure politicing.

It's the kind of stuff that puts me off no matter the party is doing it.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia says he won’t seek reelection in 2024

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia says he won’t seek reelection in 2024, giving Republicans a prime opportunity to pick up a seat in the heavily GOP state.
will anyone notice the difference between them? the only real issue would be one less senator in the votes which could be bad though maybe not insurmountable given the progress made by dems down-ballot elsewhere creating a potential push in '24.

manchin knew he'd be primaried and wasn't a democrat to be relied on for anything but his own interests.

This is what happens when your leadership is weak. It really isn't rocket science. The leadership allowed him to walk both sides. So why is anyone surprised he ends up backstabbing his constituents and his "party"? Democrats are better without him. Lead by policy.

Democrats caved on EVERY environmental issue losing millions of votes from the younger generations to give Joe what he wanted. Now...the party...has lost both. Good luck convincing those you alienated you fucked up

Sounds like a guy that’s just looking forward to quietly retiring in his home state of West Virginia.

“I will finish my term while traveling the country and speaking out to see if there is interest in building a movement to mobilize the middle, find common ground and bring Americans together.”

“But this moment in the nation’s history is so filled with peril and political dysfunction that I want to work not only for my beloved West Virginia but for all Americans. Working together, I want to eliminate what is standing in the way of so many obvious and popular solutions.”

Manchin has survived in office by walking a political tightrope for 42 years, and largely by reflecting quite closely the majority opinions of his electorate. His views on energy/environmental policies are primitive, financially self interested, and frequently wrong. However, he voted twice for the impeachment of Trump and has almost liberal views on opioid drugs as a treatment rather than a punishment issue. At least he is getting out at age 77, others should take note.

only he's not exactly 'getting out':

he's planning on doing a tour with Romney to see if they can drum up interest in a third, 'more centrist' party, which can only throw even more uncertainty on the '24 election. Of course, it may just be a way of keeping his name out there in the spotlight, causing some damage but ensuring tv and speaker gigs.

things aren't going well when regular, career politicians who at least know 'how to politic' have to consider consolidating around a third party rather that their leaderships dealing with extremist noobs who haven't a clue how to do their jobs for the American people.

I'm not opposed to a third party. It's probably necessary.

I'm opposed to the possibility of a third party pulling enough votes from Joe to cause the end of Democracy.

Math makes a 3rd party not a thing anybody wants.

Manchin is talking with No Labels. No Labels backers are interested. Pelosi, the Lincoln Project and other individuals and groups opposed to Trump are speaking out against No Labels fielding a candidate. Timeline for No Labels making a decision is March-April.

Ryan Clancy, the chief strategist for No Labels, said in a briefing with reporters this week that polling conducted during the summer in the top eight battleground states found that a ticket led by a Republican had a stronger path to victory and pulled more votes from Trump’s column. But he said their process remains fluid.

How does March-April make sense for any serious candidate?

Sidenote: Jill Stein is likely to announce another green party bid within the next few weeks.

Not sure. Seems late to me. Guess they don’t need to hold primaries. Here’s more from the WSJ article this morning.

“Former Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon of Missouri, who is serving as No Labels’ director of ballot integrity, said in the briefing that the organization was on the ballot in 12 states and expected to gain ballot access in other states next year with the goal of reaching all 50 states. Clancy said the group has collected more than 800,000 signatures as part of its ballot access effort.

“Clancy said the timeline for No Labels to field a candidate remains March or April 2024, but it would only pursue the campaign if it sees a clear pathway to victory. However, he reiterated that polling shows broad numbers of Americans interested in alternatives to Biden and Trump and are expressing an openness to a third-party candidate.

So he will announce when he's delusional enough to see victory?

Neat.

Already did:

Jill Stein launches a long-shot Green Party presidential campaign, bringing back memories of 2016

If he runs as a No Labels candidate, it only happens if they decide to field a candidate, and if he’s their choice. They will only field a candidate if they see a path to victory. This is the first time we’ve had a situation where the front runner from one major party is a frail octogenarian in cognitive decline and the front runner in the other party is facing criminal and civil prosecution in multiple courts. The uniqueness of this election cycle raises questions about whether historical performances of third party candidates is relevant. I would not bet on No Labels but Manchin has shaken things up a bit.

Romney is a political player PIECE OF SHIT.

Look at BabyBoobs trying to gaslight everyone by ignoring the corrupt orange traitor’s age and deteriorating mental acuity. (And the corrupt orange traitor was already a barely functional idiot back in 2015.)

🙄

Meanwhile, President Biden fully understands complex geopolitical, economic, and social issues, and has been appropriately proactive and responsive when addressing those issue.

Hope that ^ helps.

Keep ignoring what most Americans, including most of your fellow Democrats, are saying about Biden’s rapidly deteriorating mental and physical fitness. 👍
