Will Coal Miners Bury the Traitor From WV?

The fascists are working overtime tonight. Anyone that does follow the democrat line without question is a traitor. You guys are a fucking joke.

U.S. coal miners' union asks Manchin to 'revisit' opposition to spending bill

WASHINGTON, Dec 20 (Reuters) - The main union representing U.S. coal miners urged West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin to reconsider his opposition to the Biden administration's $1.75 trillion climate and social spending bill to preserve measures that would have benefited its members.

United Mine Workers of America International President Cecil Roberts, a long-time ally of Manchin's, said the sweeping bill contained important measures like an extension of funding to aid victims of black lung disease, tax incentives to urge manufacturers to build new factories and employ ex-miners, and protect union workers.

“For those and other reasons, we are disappointed that the bill will not pass. We urge Senator Manchin to revisit his opposition to this legislation and work with his colleagues to pass something that will help keep coal miners working, and have a meaningful impact on our members, their families and their communities," Roberts said on Monday.

Biden and party leaders negotiated with Manchin for months to satisfy his concerns over key elements of the Build Back Better legislation, but the West Virginia senator surprised his fellow Democrats on Sunday saying that he could not support the proposal.

The Build Back Better plan aims to expand the social safety net and invest nearly $600 billion to tackle climate change through a variety of subsidies including for renewable power and electric vehicles. Many Democrats have said the bill is essential to the party's chances in the Nov. 8, 2022, mid-term elections and efforts to combat climate change.

Manchin won re-election in 2018 as a Democrat in a deeply conservative state that twice voted for Donald Trump.

The senator has objected to elements of the bill intended to fight climate change, which are opposed by the coal and natural gas industries that are economic drivers in his home state.

Manchin founded the private coal brokerage Enersystems in 1988 and still owns a big stake in the company, which his son currently runs.

This was a bad bill that was going to make problems it attempts to solve more expensive.

How do you figure? I mean, it's incredibly easy to make a sweeping statement like that, but just what do you mean exactly?

The only thing that can really benefit WV coal miners is bringing some other industry to the state -- coal is past saving, because natural gas is cheaper.

Kinda like the dubious claims that BBB is nothing but unicorn farts and utopian lollipops Americans all DESPERATELY need!!:D

WV went like 68% for Trump in 2020. Does that strike anyone as a bunch who were aching to spend $5T we didn't have on shit we don't need and which will only go to strengthen the Democrat Party's grip on the government?

What part of the bill do we not need?

Nobody knows because it never got finalized and put to a vote on the floor. In other words, there was no bill for both chambers to vote on.

It was always going to look something like this:

Pelosi made that clear when she "neotiated" with Manchin by deploying a barrage of accounting tricks to make the bottom line seem lower. The content was the same, just the duration of the schemes was adjusted, and mendaciously, too.

Yep. And they kept gaming it until it became obvious that Manchin meant what he said. And it’s why Libs of Lit having like the OP, Luk, Laz, Roto, Keith and others are now melting down.

I just love how the left thinks.

If there's a crowd of 100 who stand against some political position, some asshole will find the one guy (probably named KeithD or Pecksniff, or something similar) who will go on the record as saying "Not me! I'm all for it!!!" and then try to use that as proof that the other 99 are the minority on the issue.
