Build Back Bye Bye

You trumpies hang on every single report about this. I love that it triggers you so much that any delay causes a celebration and overreaction.

I can't wait till it passes and you cry about how the lefties didn't get every single little thing they wanted...even though it still will pass with a ton more than anything the Previous administration accomplished.

They wanted a $3.5 trillion package (which actually would have been much higher without budget gimmicks) with major tax hikes on high income individuals and corporations. Also major new entitlement programs which would have been permanent.

Then it got cut in half (about $1.75 trillion plus budget gimmicks) and most of the tax hikes were dropped. Thank you Joe and Kirsten.

Then Manchin and the CBO called BS on the budget tricks, amplified his concerns about the size of the package, and likely pushed the whole thing off the 2021 calendar. Thank you Joe.

If the Senate is able to pass anything next year, it will certainly not be the structural transformation Dems set out to accomplish. Maybe a trillion. Still wasteful, but nothing remotely close to the permanent structural transformation originally envisioned.

I don’t know if the Senate will pass anything in an election year. Cortez Mastro and Hassan are in tight races. Kelly too. The public’s appetite for more spending is waning, especially with inflation on the rise. And even if something does pass the Senate, it will be even tougher to pass it in the House. They could lose the Squad who will object to the shrinkage, as well as moderates running in swing districts.

For these reasons, we can both be happy with where this is all headed. Things were looking very different a few months ago!

It won't pass in the new year, either, once people have had a good taste of Dementia Joe's inflation.

*when the Senate passes

Fixed it for ya

I'll love drinking more deficit hawk tears off the side of the new bridges from my new broadband while charging my car

"Structural transformation"?

Biden and Manchin are very far apart on this. Manchin hasn't budged much.

I remember how much you criticized the Trumpers for being such bootlickers and cult followers. Karma has a funny way of working out. People like you are the same way with Biden. You're Biden's Bidets.

A Pub senator who tried to block a bill Trump wanted would have received a metric fuckton of death threats.

I support every part of the bill. I'd be happy if only one of the policies passed.

Criticize me all you want. Any part of the bill will make our country better and more competitive on every level.

It's a bad bill which does no such thing. It adds trillions to the debt and gives the federal government more power. It's feel good legislation.

The CUbaNTripod must not be aware that the bill has already been significantly modified to appease the many differing opinions of the Democrats in congress.

No Democrats are slavish sycophants to President Biden like most Republicucks were to Cheetolini.

*Definitive nod*

Appeasing the the differing opinions doesn't make it a good bill. It doesn't change my point that its feel good legislation that adds to the debt and just more federal overreach.

Yeah, I just read an article about a critical phone call President Biden recently had with AOC regarding the Build Back Better Framework......

Oh wait...... that phone call was with Joe Manchin.

NM

*chuckles*

This is what it does.

Revised version
The revised version of the bill is estimated to cost approximately $2.2 trillion.[21][1] The White House's legislative framework, the costs of which were disputed by nonpartisan estimates, includes:[22][23]

$555 billion for clean energy and climate change provisions
$400 billion for childcare and preschools
$200 billion for child tax and earned income tax credits
$150 billion for home care
$150 billion for housing
$130 billion for Affordable Care Act credits
$90 billion for equity and other investments
$40 billion for higher education and workforce
$35 billion to expand Medicare to hearing services

Specifics of the bill include:[24]
An increase in the SALT deduction limit from $10,000 (expiring in 2026) to $80,000 (expiring in 2030)
Universal preschool for all three and four-year-olds
Child-care cost cap of 7% of income for parents earning up to 250% of a state’s median income (including faith-based child-care)
$35-per-month limit on the cost of insulin under Medicare & limit on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs at $2,000 per year
Hearing benefits for Medicare beneficiaries, including coverage for a new hearing aid every five years
One year of expanded child tax credits
A provision for 4 weeks of paid family and medical leave (included in a package drafted by the House Ways and Means Committee[25]
Extended Affordable Care Act subsidies
More than one million new affordable housing units, and modernizing existing public housing
Expanded home care for elderly and disabled individuals through Medicaid
Creation of 1-2 million new apprenticeship slots
Electric car tax credit of $7,500, plus an extra $4,500 for American-made vehicles built with union labor
New tax credits for installing solar panels or weatherizing homes

I.e., nothing not worth doing.

It does feel good when governments provide.proper governing to advance our country, correct. And it feels good when the GDP goes up afterward.

And it feels good to deficit hawks and Trumpies who claim they were part of it during their campaigns and elections even though they fight tooth and nail against it every single time.

This isn't "governing," it's robbing A to give to B so B will vote for you next election

I'm glad you have faith for I surely do not. I was skeptical from the start when we got a 51/50 majority in the Senate and its gone down hill since then.

It won't pass in the new year, either, once people have had a good taste of Dementia Joe's inflation.

Yeah, but that has to do with the overall ignorance of the American people as a whole. I beleive that failure to keep Americans educated is intentional by conservatives because nobody would follow their policies if they were informed of even the basics of how things work. That being said maybe it is just rando and that's only better because I'm more forgiving if you ran into me because you didn't see me than I am if you plow me over because you're a twat.

Yeah, karma. Isn't that where bad people get bad results because the system is a feedback loop? Cus this is good people getting punished for doing the right thing and the true law of the world kicking them in the teeth. "No good deed goes unpunished."

My feeling as well. On top of that, it's an election year and some Democrats might not want to be associated with it the closer we get to November.

You won't be feeling good when you get kicked in the face by the realities of the bill, such as making child care more expensive.
