because lactose intolerant people (and east asians are frequently lactose intolerant) can consume some yogurts and cheeses because they don't have lactose in them or have minimal amounts.

they don't drink milk, though. you can get it there, but i believe it's mostly for babies and very high in fat.
 
on a side note, apparently japanese cheese is fucking terrible.

or so i've heard. never had the "pleasure" myself.
 
i tried some of their porno once and now i'm scarred for life. i wouldn't have the nerve to try their cheese after that.

Some French cheeses have that effect too.

I once bought in a farmer's market in Boulogne, cheese that was marked as 'Puyant' = smelly. Even double wrapped we had to have the car windows open. It made Stinking Bishop cheese seem very mild. It probably kills all known germs including Covid. Our cats took one sniff and left the house for 24 hours.
