Indicator or bell weather species are used all the time to study both virus, bacteria, flora and fuana, mammalian species....

.....the lack of any flu last year did show how effective covid containment measures(distancing, masking, hand sanitation) were and how much more difficult and transmissible covid actually is compared to the flu.

The Flu, how prevalent it is regionally and local, will give all of us an indication of how effective we are being regarding covid.

It will be interesting this year as the vaccines shuffle the cards of this analysis a bit....

I wear my mask now primarily for the flu(and covid)....it was so effective at taking it out. Pennsylvania had something like 7 cases last year. This is unheard of!

I have no data but I keep wondering if the new outbreaks are in certain segments of our society. A segment which sits at home in the basement and orders from Uber Eats and Door Dash. No data on if that's true or not. Mostly because the Blue controllers have decreed that the information, which could in fact tell us if there's a specific societal segment which is spreading the disease, not be collected.
