How do you deal with over-represented "diversity" on TV?

Sometimes it gets to be too much. The constant 24/7/365 loop of advertising massively over-representing certain demographics as well as the blatant over-representation of mixed couples and the graphic representation of overt homosexuals.

Sometimes it does cause normal people to fight off the urge to end it all (and throw out their damn TV).

Sometimes I just want to heave a brick into the damn thing.

I don't even think about it.

My advice to you is to turn off your TV or stick to 50s and 60s Sitcoms...

You can even buy old movies pretty damned cheap.

I put my last TV out at the alley several years ago. It was gone in hours. No one has returned it.

I was asked just yesterday if I wanted one.

Perish the motherfucking thought!!!

I feel like they go around with a checklist to each tv show these days. They don't really know how to translate themes in real world into tv shows, which makes it really fake and annoying.

That's why I don't think these kind of tv shows are sustainable. They will die off

Lassie

Lack of Beagles and cats...

Like cowbell, you can have too much collie.

At least I'm not the only one to notice this.

It's as though hollywood & TV have a list of required characters: homosexual, interracial, etc.

It seams like movies and TV can't come up with new shows. They recycle the same premise but change the location: CSI's, Law & Order's, Spiderman, Batman, and so on...

I still remember cable salesman remark about ABC, Disney, ESPN... Mouse Mafia

You don't deal with it, you bask in the representation. Though depending on what and where you are talking about it is racism not that the people bitching REALLY care. There is a reason why the Right loves Ben Carson and Candace Owens. Ana Navarro was where she was for a reason and her realizing she was part of the wrong team and switching was a pretty big blow.

Yes, it is a bit much anymore. My solutions:
  • Use the mute button
  • Look away
  • Be selective about what I watch.
  • Try not to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Why subject yourself to all that, if it disturbs you? Easy solution...turn off the TV and go for a walk or read a book. You'll be much happier

He will never be happy unless all non-whites dissappear from the planet. As soon as I saw the word "Diversity" in the thread I knew, without even checking the author of the first post, this was gonna be another thread full of renard-ruse KKK bullshit.

I think you should heave a brick into your TV.

If a TV show were based on my immediate neighbors over the past 30 years, it would be mostly mixed race couples, overtly homosexual mixed race couples, and me, the only heterosexual white guy on my street.

I'd invite you to the annual block part party, but it would probably be too much for you.

Oh...

...like westerns died off?

...like WWII shows...Combat, 12 O'clock High, etc?

...like Cold War spy shows...Get Smart, Wild Wild West...I Spy...Man From Uncle

...cop shows...Dragnet...CHips...Rookies

Sounds like your insecurities are running you. LOL!

What is your reality?

pop. % in the u s:

black 12.4
+mixed race 10.2
+other ethnicity 8.4

you pretty much just described my family, except you left out all of the weirdos.

Ever watch the Andy Griffith Show? Set in a Southern town in the 1950s and 1960s -- and no blacks ever appeared on camera, nor was the ongoing civil rights movement ever mentioned.

I hope we don't want to go back to that sort of thing.
